3/13/24-Tomorrow Katara will be spayed but today she is all smiles running around the back yard and enjoying this beautiful weather.

3/12/24-Katara had her pre-spay appointment today & all went well.  No heart murmur but the vet detected a slight arrhythmia. He said it is likely a gene mutation from them breeding “designer” breeds like her to get such a tiny Aussie. He rotated her legs didn’t find a luxating patella. She isn’t eating much right now but this happens a lot with mill dogs as we don’t know what they were fed. Katara can benefit from losing weight as she looks like a hedgehog now with tiny head & big body! Lol We are all set for her spay this Thursday 3/14 & she will be ready to go home soon after.

3/10/24-Katara walked very slow around the house for her first few days of freedom from the puppy mill.  She is interested in food but eats very little.  Today she walked much quicker.  Katara has her pre-spay appointment on Tuesday.  It will be interesting to know if she is walking better due to weight loss or if she is more active from  her ear infection starting to clear up.

3/8/24-Katara spent her first night exploring her surroundings.   My other dogs have accepted her and the cats are okay with her presence.  Katara is learning about life outside of a puppy mill and is still scared but currently enjoying my husband’s lap and his attention.
03/07/24-Katara is an adorable, sweet & very overweight 2 year old blue merle tri-color toy aussie (toy Australian shepherd). She was saved from a puppy mill as they just got done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. She has an ear infection she has medication for & a left rear luxating patella (aka: like a trick knee). She has a pre-spay appointment Tuesday 3/13 & hope to have her spayed soon after. Once we get to know her some more & she is spayed she will be ready to go home.
