3/29/24-Veyda did very well for her spay surgery on Wednesday. She is pretty itchy and uncomfortable right now, but seems to be recovering well. She is awesome at taking pills, unfortunately two of her pain meds are yucky liquids. We’ve been getting them in her but she definitely hates the taste. She is eating much better the last few days, and even ate at dinner time with the rest of the dogs! I do still give her some extra soaked food for overnight since she’s not drinking enough water yet. She drinks a little more every day though. The vet commented that Veyda’s urine was somewhat dark and concentrated when she peed there on Wednesday. She’s peeing 2-3 times a day now so it’s slowly improving.
House training is coming along, she has an accident every other day or so, but does go potty outside. She gets a little spinny when she has to go. I’d say she’s 60-70% of the way there. She’s also learning “sit” & does stairs too! This is a tiny little girl, more mini poodle size so perfect for those little for a lap dog & won’t drag you down the street! Lol Veyda is now ready to go home & still waiting for her perfect home with someone to cuddle with!

3/20/24-Veyda is doing so well! She’s not playing with our other dogs yet, but loves co-sleeping with either of them on the couch or dog beds. She is improving in her pottying outside, and has yet to mess her crate. She does still have accidents inside the house, I swear she must’ve been a toddler in her last life because she will go and hide to go potty! She doesn’t even like to be watched outside when she potties so I hide and keep an eye on her. Veyda has grumbled at the other dogs two or three times, more of a “I need some space” alert than anything. She is fine with another dog being near her when receiving attention, so long as she gets one of your hands for herself!

Veyda is a lot more confident on the leash and will walk throughout the yard and neighboring yards with me. She does still startle a little at loud noises or loud vehicles but doesn’t get frantic. As far as eating and drinking, she is drinking more often. Maybe not as much as she should be, but definitely more. She will eat a little bit when our other dogs have dinner time, but much prefers eating the majority of her meal overnight when everyone is sleeping.
Veyda is getting more comfortable with the general noises from the kids, but really doesn’t like anything like the noises from Nerf guns or anything that clicks and pops like that. I do think she would become more used to it and learn to ignore it if she was around it more (it’s only been a week and a half). She will snuggle with the kids and has even fallen asleep with my daughter with my daughter using her as a pillow. She’s given the kids a few licks here and there and does enjoy attention from them.
Veyda will be spayed next week on Wednesday 3/27 and will be able to go to her new home after.

3/14/24-Veyda is so sweet! She is still a little unsure of the kids (8.5 and 13) when they’re being loud or moving quickly, but she’s getting better with them. She accepts petting and attention from them as long as they don’t move too fast. Veyda is becoming more comfortable on a leash and more confident outside. Loud trucks and buses make her shake, but she’s not scared of the mail truck any more! She will walk out the door without assistance, and last night walked back into the house instead of needing to be carried in. She doesn’t mind getting picked up and has let me touch her feet, ears, belly, mouth, and lets me clean her eye boogies out every morning.

We have been having some difficulty getting her to drink, so today at the vet they gave her a fluid bolus subcutaneously as she is barely urinating. We’ll keep trying to figure out what gets her to drink enough that she is adequately hydrated. So far it seems she likes “stale” water the most. When I took her out after work she drank ten laps out of yesterday’s water that we had outside.  She likes to eat at night after everyone has gone to bed, but she will take treats during the day. Veyda LOVES quiet attention and being a “lap dog”. I actually held her like a baby last night and rubbed her belly for a good ten minutes. She adored it and just lay there so relaxed and content. Such a good little snuggler. She would be great at binge watching Netflix on the couch with her new owner/owners!  She had her pre-spay appointment today & her pre-op bloodwork was good.  Her spay will be spayed on Wednesday 3/27 & will be ready to go to her new home after that.

3/13/24-Veyda likes belly rubs. She let me hold her like this for a good 5-10 minutes as long as I kept rubbing her belly.  After that she was trying to play with me while in my lap. A real sweetie!

03/07/24-Veyda is a very cute little 2 1/2 year old Mini aussiedoodle (miniature poodle/miniature Australian shepherd). She was saved from a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her  She arrived into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & temporary foster volunteers. Veyda has a her pre-spay appointment next Thursday 3/14 & hopefully a spay date soon after. Once we get to know her some more & she is spayed she will be ready to go home.
