12/15/2021 – Foster mom can’t believe that I’m still waiting for my forever home! She keeps telling me that good things come to those who wait and I do believe her. Yesterday, I got to meet another foster baby that has come to stay with us. She’s so much smaller than I am. My foster brothers and I were very happy to meet her, she was a little nervous at first but then she came around. I’m very proud to announce that I am a master in going down the 4 steps I need to go so that I can go outside to do my business! It took me a while, and I still need a little coaxing once and awhile. Sometimes when I’m outside, I just stand there and look around, there are so many interesting things to see. Once I spot something I want to check out, I’m able to go there – sometimes foster mom has to tell me to leave it or come and most of the time I listen. Hey, this world is still new to me! The other day, this white stuff came down from the sky and I looked up as it hit my face and I didn’t know what to do! Foster mom laughed because of the face I made and asked me what am I going to do when the snow comes down heavy? I don’t know what she meant by that and I’m not sure I’m going to like it.  Only time will tell. I’m ready for you, are you ready for me?

12/11/21-Skye is still looking for Christmas miracle: to find her home before the New Year. Skye had an approved home set to pick her 2 weeks in a row. The first time they had a last minute personal issue, but today was no call & they never showed up! This never happens-poor Skye! We know her real forever family is out there so don’t lose out on this awesome girl who has even learned to cuddle her people & do a few steps!

11/18/21-Today Skye’s foster mom saw her get up and walk around acting fine but her head was shaking a lot. Moments later she was fine & playing with another dog. Her foster mom was very worried so sent a video of it to the vet. Turns out it is just a head tremor which is very common in English & French Bulldogs. They are so common in the breed they are also known as “bulldog head bobbing”, “bulldog head shaking”,  “bulldog head nodding” and  “idiopathic bulldog head tremors“ and can be used interchangeably. The Origin of this bulldog head nodding and bobbing is mostly unknown (idiopathic) and is considered “benign”. They are usually intermittent, short lived(occasionally, could last for a few minutes) & are considered harmless, thus NO treatment is required. It may never happen again or could,  the vet said just keep an eye on it. Good ways to break the episode is to have her move her head and neck, distract with a toy, or treat, calling her to you, etc. We’ve seen this in a few boxers over the years & learned it’s the same thing, not a seizure, & nothing to worry about. Don’t let this turn you away from this great girl!

11/17/2021 – My foster mom has come up with this song she sings to me…..maybe you know it? “I see Skye’s of blue, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and you and I think to myself what a wonderful world”. Before coming to my foster home, I didn’t know that the world could be so wonderful, life as a mill momma is really indescribable.

Foster mom says although I am 5 years old, I’m really living my puppy years because I’m into exploring everything. I never really had a puppy life while I was in the mill. There are these things that dangle from what she calls blinds and I just love to chew them, she corrects me and I try my best to listen but there’s so many interesting things where I’m living, I need to see what they are! With time and patience, I’m told I’ll become the puppy that I was meant to be!

I’m starting to understand certain commands and I love getting praises when I do. I know the word outside, inside and I’m getting good at crate up. That’s my favorite one because I get cookies every time I go in there, except for dinner time. I’m still eating in my crate because it takes me a while to eat. Do you know that I never knew what a cookie was? I’ll do almost anything for a cookie!

I’m still having a little problem with being house broken but I’m getting better at it. Foster mom says that I’ve lived 5 years as a mill momma and it’s going to take some time and patience to learn what it is to live in a forever home. I’m trying my best and I know that once I have my forever home, my life will never be the same again. I’m so looking forward to seeing what my new family has in store for me

11/08/2021 – Skye has been with us for a little over a week now and has already shown so much improvement! She actually has a little bounce in her step and is starting to discover that it’s ok to play! My little guy is cautious of her because she’s twice his weight but he will play with her for a little bit. She gets overwhelmed when she sees my boxer boy running toward her.

Skye loves to be vocal….I don’t think she realizes it, she will make these cute grunting noises while she’s awake. When I’m on the phone people laugh because they think she’s funny. Sleeping she’s one snoring bulldog!

Skye has mastered going up the side steps but needs to be helped down them. Sad to think that this poor girl didn’t know what steps were and where they might lead. After she does her business outside, she’ll come to the side door and wait for it to be opened so she can go inside and find a nice comfy bed. It always amazes me to watch the mill dogs walk on grass for the first time, they have this puzzled look on their face because of what they’re feeling on their feet!

Skye doesn’t have to worry about going back to those mills, she’s starting to enjoy life and a new adventure is in front of her! She adapted so well to her foster family, I know she’ll do even better in her permanent home!

11/1/2021 – After a few days of traveling and overnight stays, Skye has come to settle in her foster home. Thanks to all who helped get this sweet ex-puppy mill momma into safety and giving her the beginning of a great new life! Skye explored the back yard before meeting her 2 new foster brothers, I don’t know who was happier to see whom!

This mill momma is one sweet girl so keep checking up on her as we update you to her new life and adventures!
