4/22/24-Diesel came through his neutering experience with flying colors and by the way, he is racing around here and playing with the two other dogs. He is feeling mighty fine. He could either be an alone dog, or with another dogs very easily, he just needs a little bit of time to warm up and figure out the situation. As far as being housebroken, I have absolutely no problem with him… It’s always easier when you have two other dogs showing them how things happen. He’s hopping into the car when we go for a ride and he’s trying to perfect the art of riding shotgun but he just won’t sit his butt down yet. Took him to see friends the other day who are dog people and he was, a little bit cautious he finally took a treat from them. I think the caution was mixed with a little just being nervous cause they were new, but he had no big inflammatory reaction to this couple. He’s been a adapting to being an in-house home dog very easy and I don’t see any obvious anxiety or severe reaction to loud noises like a car horn or a train going by or kids yelling. But he does like having his head rubbed and his ears rubbed. He will just stand there with his head on my leg and let me do it for hours if I would, he is the perfect older dog. There’s no jumping and Zoomies and is not getting into things. He goes into the crate fine. He sleeps in the crate all night no big deal except he usually spends the first five minutes doing this little howling routine but as soon as I tell him to knock it off, he is instantly quiet, and I don’t hear a peep out of him He’s accepting treats with the softest boxer mouth ever, and just so enjoys being part of a house and watching people come and go wiggling his tail and playing with the other dogs. He’s just a real joy to have around & ready to go home!

4/15/24-I picked up Diesel on Thursday night from the transport and he was very easy to get into the car and coming to the house. After three days, all three dogs (my 2 boxers & Diesel) are sleeping together in the same dog bed so as you can see, he gets along with everybody pretty good right off the bat. He is still in that “I don’t know where I am and why I’m here state of mind” but that will come in time as he gets more comfortable living in a house. He’s a big dude and he’s got very sad eyes, but he’s very responsive to people, easy-going & very comfortable with other dogs. It appears that he was asymptomatic with Lyme disease but did test positive so he is on a medicine for the next 30 days that should deal with that. His ears were also a little bit on the funky side so he has eardrops. Other than that he is a lovable, big hoss who is really getting into being loved on and cuddled and meeting new people. He is being neutered on Friday & then this wonderful boy will be ready to go home!

04/11/24-Diesel is a cool & very sweet 7 year old fawn & white boxer. He was saved from a puppy mill as they were just done breeding him. He arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to his transport volunteers. Diesel tested positive for Lyme so is on antibiotics to take care of that. He also has ear infection with medication & ear cleaner & typical of older boxers it is noted he has gingival hyperplasia (aka abnormal gum tissue growth). He has his pre-neuter appointment on Monday, being neutered on Friday 4/19 & will be ready to go home after that. More updates & pictures soon from his foster home.
