7/18/24-Scout continues to do really well. He is enjoying his daily walks with the dogs. He is pretty predictable when it comes to using the bathroom and as long as you are consistent he is consistent. He loves his toys and we are coming up with clever ways to keep his puppy teeth on teethers and not fingers. lol He also loves to run and play outdoors and is excellent with other dogs. He and my daughter’s rescue played and played this evening. He remains curious about the cats but does not chase. Scout goes to bed in his crate and continues to sleep through the night without accidents. I’m searching for his downside, because it can’t all be great right, but I can’t seem to find one! We are really enjoying our time with him.

7/17/24-Scout is all things puppy and his personality is beyond compare. He’s incredibly happy, hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t like, redirects like a champ (have to watch for those puppy teeth) and loves to play in the yard with the dogs and kids. I have seen zero separation anxiety. He goes in his crate with little complaint as long as he’s got a toy and teether in tow. He sleeps in his crate all night, typically from 10:30pm until 7am, with no accidents this far. He is predictable when it comes to having to use the bathroom which, with consistency, will make potty training a breeze. He will sit for treats and will sit before given his food dish. Displays no food aggression. He loves his fluffy bed and will drag all of his toys in to it and nap or just play in it during the day at my feet while I’m working. He continues to be curious about the cats but doesn’t chase. We are working on walking on leash and had a pretty good short walk yesterday. He’s is hands down the easiest puppy I have ever fostered! I give props to the foster home before me who laid down such a solid foundation for an already incredible puppy. He is just a super happy, well adjusted little guy & ready for his new home!

7/14/24-Scout was up around 6:30am today. We went out and he promptly did his business. He came in and ate breakfast like a champ. He could benefit from a bowl that has the maze/that slows down his food intake as right now he’s a bit of a gobbler. I forgot to mention he instantly got along with our dogs when he arrived. He was very submissive and the whole introduction was easy breezy.  He has also met the cats.  He was curious but did not chase.  It went way better than I had anticipated. He loves to play outside!  We discovered this morning that he likes to play ball and is pretty good at self entertaining with just a ball or a stick from yard. He is happy to play along with whomever is going to toss the ball to him or do short sprints in the yard.  lol  He did great at spending some short intervals in the crate during the day today. He’s a puppy so he does puppy things.  It’s important to redirect when he’s biting/teething and he’s very responsive to that.  He has a favorite chew toy for teething.  Potty training is a work in progress but he’s an easy read and heads for the door and even barked today to go out. I have not sensed or noticed any separation anxiety.  He also likes to snuggle up with you when he’s tired out and ready to relax. All in all it felt like a pretty successful first full day with a very sweet puppy.

7/13/24-Scout arrived shortly after 7pm today. He was a good co-pilot driving home and sat nicely after already enduring a very long days drive. We had one pit stop at the barn on the way home.  Scout got to meet some horses and some children. Horses he wasn’t so sure about. Lol Children he was happy to get pets from. He was a champ at using the bathroom outside. He had some food, went out to use the bathroom and went into his crate around 10:30pm.  He slept in his crate all night like a champ and didn’t wake up to use the bathroom again until about 6:30.  A win in my book!

7/12/24-Scout is a very sweet what looks like a boxer mix puppy that was found as a stray about a month ago in someone’s yard in Louisiana & is coming into our rescue tomorrow. A wonderful rescue person helps dogs down there & took him in because he was too small for the kennels. Since the South is so over crowded with dogs needing saved, we said we could help. Scout has seen the vet twice for check ups, a health certificate to travel & 2 sets of shots. He has quite an adventure the next couple days: he flew out with his new pilot friend Mike yesterday to Memphis,TN, spent the night with a volunteer there & catching a long transport for 2 days all the way to CT Saturday. Thank you to his transport coordinator AnneMarie & all his transport volunteer drivers & pilot!  He is about 15 lbs now, so we estimate he may be about 55 lbs full grown. Hard to say though as we don’t know what he is mixed with.
