11/30/24-Roxy is doing fabulous! I had my granddaughter Amelia overnight after Thanksgiving dinner. Roxy is totally in love with her. Roxy was gentle with Amelia as they played. Here are a few shots of her during the visit and after. The sofa is one of her favorite spots to relax. Roxy follows a routine each day and goes into her crate without any hesitation whether it is for me to go to the office or it is time for bed.  This sweet girl is dreaming of a home for the holidays!

11/23/24-As another note I took Roxy to have a bath. Once we got her into the area she did very well. The groomer said she was a bit nervous with the towel but once she figured it out she was fine. She is a very happy girl! We can’t believe no one has snatched her up yet.

11/22/24-Roxy is a fantastic girl very lovable & good on a leash. She is a sweetheart & loves cuddles!

11/21/24-Roxy arrived 3 months ago as a rescue from a commercial breeder. She is doing great & is the sweetest Boxer girl. Each day she looks for cuddles. We have a great routine down. After a good night sleeping in her crate on a comfy bed she gets up slowly for her breakfast. Then she knows it is time to go out to potty. Depending on the day she may come into the living room eventually settling on the couch. I have to say she really loves her rest. Over the weekend I worked out in the yard while she watched. The sounds of the leaf blower and leaf vacuum did not bother her. In the house though she is not a fan of the “killer vacuum monster”! LOL Her house manners are very good. All this girl needs is a family of her own for the holidays that will love her and be her special human.

11/6/24-Roxy has now been with me for 2 months. She is super sweet. She has learned to relax on the couch while I work from home. Each night she needs her cuddles before she goes to her crate for the night.

10/20/24-Roxy is doing very well. I took her on a play date today with other boxers. She does not care for the males but was ok with the females including a puppy.  She does have a possessive nature of her “person” around other dogs.  She let the dogs know I’m her person with a low grumble. She didn’t engage in any play but I think that she was too busy making sure she got all the attention! LOL  As you can see in the pictures she has figured out how to get on the sofa. Sweet Roxy is still waiting for her new home!

10/9/24-Roxy is doing great.  Her stitches were removed on Monday & the 2 sites look perfect. Her fur is also coming back from being shaved. The growths were removed over 2 weeks ago with one being sent for biopsy.  The test result is that it was a low grade 2 mast cell tumor, very common in boxers.  The vet got good margins around them so she is all good now. Going forward Roxy should just be watched for any appearance of new growths.  Roxy’s house manners are very good. There have not been any accidents in the house.  She is curious about the counters but has not pulled anything off them since the bunch of bananas. In true boxer fashion, personal space is not something she understands. LOL She loves being close and having all the attention. Once you are firm with her after some love she will settle at your feet and relax. Roxy is now comfortable with her crate. I often find her in the crate relaxing.
Roxy is watchful at the windows and doors. If she sees someone approaching she will let you know. Of course, she follows you everywhere to be sure you don’t disappear. She is good with my dog but is pushy when she is not getting attention.  I feel like she would like the company of a playful dog. I believe she is trying to initiate play but my old girl doesn’t understand. Any family that adopts Roxy is in for a sweetheart who will love you and watch over you. She is now ready to go to her new home!

9/30/24-Roxy is healing nicely from her surgery to remove the lumps on her back. The stitches come out on 10/4 and we will have test results. She is learning to sit and come on command. She will put herself in the crate when it gets close to 9 pm. In typical Boxer fashion she loves to be close or on top of you. She will sit or lay by my feet while I am working. The occasional paw is raised to let me know she wants attention. She can be a bit jealous of my dog getting attention but generally lives peacefully with my 13 year old dog. Roxy can be curious about things on the counter. I went into the kitchen one day and found a bunch of bananas on the floor. She is also resourceful. If she thinks she does not have water the toilet works and you don’t know until you hear the lapping. Beyond that she has been very well mannered in the house. I have had to be careful about the doors as she has snuck out before the screen door closed. On a good note she did not go too far and came right back. Overall, Roxy is a sweetheart.

9/20/24-Roxy had the growths removed on her back & one found on her hip too. Poor girl has some serious stitches! She goes back to the vet in 2 weeks on Friday October 4th to have the stitches removed. By then they should have the biopsy results too.

9/16/24-Roxy saw the vet today for the odd growths on her back. The vet decided to scheduled her for this Friday 9/20 to have them removed & biopsied to determine what they are.

9/8/24-Roxy is starting her Sunday off relaxing after a good breakfast. She is a sweetheart. We are working on the sit stay command. It is slow but she is beginning to get it.

9/4/24-Roxy is doing phenomenal. She attended a picnic on Sunday for some socializing. She got to play with other Boxers and children as young as six. Roxy did not jump on anyone and received tons of attention. It was a very long day for her so she definitely slept well. Her special treat was a hamburger for dinner. At home there have not been any toilet accidents and she will let me know when she needs to go out. Crating has improved with her going in on her own even when not asked to go in. Roxy is an exceptional watchdog too. Now that it is cooler and doors are open she keeps a lookout and barks when she sees neighborhood walkers. She does like to have all of the attention and does not like other dogs in her face. She generally does ok with my female but she does butt in for attention. Attention hog! LOL Roxy will go to the vet on 9/16 to have the sores on her back evaluated. The one that was open has now healed. They do not seem to hurt her, she allows me to touch them and they have not gotten any bigger.

8/30/2024 – Roxy arrived to her foster home on 8/24/2024. She is an absolute sweetheart. Roxy is a beautiful girl. I have found that she will dump her food dish if you only give her dry food. If you mix in some water and canned food she eats it up at a reasonable pace. She has been good about going outside for potty and seems to let me know. There has only been one accident in the house where I missed the signs. At first getting her in the crate was a chore but now she will go in on her own. It may be because there is a 4-inch thick dog bed in the crate. LOL She really likes the grassy area in the yard. Roxy loves attention and her nub is non-stop when she receives it. Yesterday was her spay appointment. Since the surgery she has been resting in her crate. I am sure after a few days she will be back to herself. Keep checking back for further updates.

8/24/24-Here are some comments from Roxy’s transport volunteers today: “She was a sweetheart on the transport this morning. A little scared but we saw plenty of nub wagging and she liked getting petted and hugged.”  “She won’t stop kissing my granddaughter. Sweet girls both of them.”

08/23/24-Roxy is a very sweet 3 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. She has an odd looking cluster of dermal lesions on her back & right hip that our vet said are probably non-cancerous & could be a fungal infection. She is being spayed next Thursday 8/29 & has an appointment at another vet on Monday 9/16 to check her skin issues.  More updates soon from her foster home.
