Though he is good with other dogs I think he would do best as an only dog & at the center of your attention!! His adopter needs to be committed to providing several daily walks and weight control for life to prevent added stress on his neck and back. More updates to come!
10/7/24-Mr. Ashton is the sweetest little ewok you ever did see! His favorite things include food, exploring outside, sunbathing, getting snuggies, and a tennis ball! His neck is doing better but we are still managing his condition as he gets a muscle spasm ~1X/day. He bounces back quickly after a muscle relaxer however, and we are continuing with cage rest, reduced activity, and Gabapentin 2X/day. It can be a challenge to keep Ashton chill because when he feels good, he is a little busy body! He’s a good little boy and easily takes his pills wrapped in cheese or a pill pocket, which is fantastic because he may be on a prescription for episodic or lifelong maintenance. As Ash continues to improve, we will be checking with our vet again to schedule his neuter. Watch for updates on this happy boy!
9/28/24-Ash has been with us for a week now and is doing well eating, drinking & sleeping. He’s only had a couple accidents in the house which could be due to change in routine & environment. He absolutely LOVES his crate and goes in on his own which is a blessing. He is quiet as a mouse & doesn’t even snore! We weren’t sure he had a voice but just heard his cute little bark the other day for the first time! (He was in his crate for dinnertime and felt left out!) This little boy is so submissive & respectful with my pack, he presents no worry or competition to them. The bully in him does provide sufficient confidence to socialize but he does not really play with my 3. Mostly, he just wants my attention and is constantly rolling on his side & back, looking for belly rubs. Ashton was scheduled for neuter this past week but I asked the vet to assess some trembling & excessive laziness I had noticed. I thought this was due to fear of all the changes he’d been thru, and my much larger dogs. As it turns out, this was a pain response to a neck strain or disc condition which is common in this breed. Together with our vet, we decided to delay his neuter and manage him with some pain meds, muscle relaxers and steroids. After several days of Rx, minimized walking, carrying him up/down stairs, and a lot of cage rest, he seems to be feeling much better and wants desperately to be more active. We are keeping him chill for a few more weeks and during this time, we hope to get him neutered. Watch for more updates on this sweet little boy!
9/22/24-My newest wittle foster boy, Ashton. Soft and sweet as can be! No “bull“ here!!! Ashton arrived safely and had great intros with resident doggos. Ashton basically ate, stumbled into his crate & passed out – slept soundly until I woke him up at 8 this morning!! According to his initial health check at our vet it appears he has bi-lateral luxating patellas (like “trick knees”), with right leg a little worse. This is probably why he walks a little funny at times & other times he is fine.
9/21/24-From Ashton & Winifred’s overnight volunteer: Love these two!! They were the perfect guests! Cat tested and cat approved too. These two cuties were the easiest houseguests ever! When we got home from picking them up they ran the yard playing, rolling and receiving pets for 30 minutes….loving life! They both went to the bathroom outside too. They did extremely well during their baths then drank lots of water and gobbled their food. When it was time to get in their crates for bedtime they cuddled up on their blankets and passed out-not a peep all night until we took them outside at 7am and they ran all around again! Enjoy these sweethearts.
09/20/24-Ashton is a 5yr old handsome male french bulldog from a nice commercial breeder that just didn’t need him anymore. We were told he was the breeders favorite, great with everything and everyone, social butterfly very happy. They said he is leash trained, loves walks & with his people. He was a family pet, but used as a breeder as well. He arrived safely into rescue tonight along with Winifred thanks to their transport & overnight volunteers. They came from the same
