2/17/22-After a little more time to get to know Sarge & Rocky we now know better what their needs are for their new home. Sarge must have kids in his home, yet Rocky is very skittish with strangers & new situations so he needed a much quieter home. After many discussions we made the very hard decision that they must actually go to separate homes to ensure both are happiest in their new lives. Rocky has found his perfect match of a new home. We are hoping Sarge can get an appointment soon with the vet so then he can be matched to his new home too.

2/11/22-Is anyone looking for a loveable, smart, goofy wonderful Boxer boy…maybe even 2!? See Sarge and Rocky! Sarge joined our family about a month ago as a foster & is just a wonderful boy. I wish I could keep him! Both Sarge and Rocky were rehomed and separated from one another in the process. Ideally, they will find a home together, but if not, we just want to find the best forever family/families for them. Both boys came from a family with kids, and Sarge absolutely needs a home with a kid or kids (I can’t speak for Rocky). He absolutely loves children of all ages and thrives with them! He also does well with other dogs and is pals with my 10-month-old mix, Milo (golden eyed goof pictured). He and my dog are great pals now. They’ve been doing a lot of “pack bonding” ear licking lately. If they aren’t able to go together, I think Sarge will be fine. These boys cannot lose their family for a second time, so we need to make sure they find the best fit. Sarge had a vet appointment to get general checkup & heartworm test this week, but it had to be delayed due to covid exposure. Hopefully we can get him in soon & get him to start his new life.

1/25/22-Rocky & his brother Sarge do not seem to be well socialized with strangers. They are both unsure of strangers & don’t love when there are people they don’t know in their foster homes.  They are just shy & very scared, not aggressive, so we feel a quieter home with not a lot of people coming & going will probably be best for them.

1/24/22 – Loveable, smart, goofy wonderful Sarge. There aren’t enough words to describe him. Every day just gets better as Sarge comes out of his shell more and more. The most important thing about this Boxer boy, he LOVES kids. His personality completely changed with the arrival of his 5-year-old foster human brother after a few days of acclimating to the house without him. Coming from a home with children, and really opening up with a child here, we know Sarge needs a home with one or even more kids around for him to play with.

Sarge is clearly a very smart boy. His recall is fantastic, he sits and stays without question, and is currently trained not to come up on furniture (though his foster family has introduced him to the comfy world of couches). Sarge sleeps in his crate at night comfortably but would love to sleep on the floor next to your bed. His foster family hasn’t allowed that transition quite yet as he has been a little territorial of his favorite spots in his new place, even marking some of those spots once, but that can be normal as an owner surrender settles into their new environment. Aside from that, he is completely house trained. He doesn’t seem to be much of a talker, as we haven’t heard a bark or a whine come out of him yet.

Though his house mate, Milo, loves to play…at 9 months old he can be a little much for Sarge. He remains calm and disengaged when he doesn’t want to play, and Milo has started to take the hint. Once Milo learned Sarge doesn’t love the jumping, they’ve started to have a few great play romps! It seems like Sarge could do well in a home with even another dog that isn’t his brother, but it takes him some time to warm up.

Sarge has some hilarious tricks, we’ve started calling him our circus dog. He loves to play volleyball…literally! He uses his goofy boxer jump to hit the ball with his nose and keep tapping it up into the air playing with you! One of his absolutely favorites to play with is a balloon.

Sarge had his first trip out of the house to Home Depot a few days ago, and while he did great in the store, he doesn’t love the car. This could be due a new fear after transport leaving his home, so we’ll keep trying. More to come on Sarge!

1/16/21-Sarge came in today with his littermate Rocky as his owners were going through a separation & could not keep them. Not only brothers, they are best friends so we are hoping someone out there is looking to adopt them both & reunite them! They lived with & were great with cats, 2 smaller dogs & 9 year old child. They do have some seasonal flank alopecia that boxers often get but nothing to worry about. Updates soon from Sarge’s foster home. Don’t miss out on these great boys!
