(Since i am DEAF I need a home with another dog & someone home more often)

2/7/25-I just got weighed again! I now weigh 52.4 pounds. I gained a pound and a half in 2 weeks! Of course we took the fleece off before they weighed me! Lol  I’m soooo good in the car. I can’t wait to take rides with my new family.

2/2/25-Foster mom took off my fleece today to put it in the wash and she was so excited to see how much more I filled out since arriving!  She’s planning to take me to get weighed again next Friday. I like going to get weighed last time I was there; people and dogs were so friendly with me. I even got some treats. Foster mom was happy because I gained 3 pounds!
I haven’t touched base with my fan club (I know you all just adore me) in a while because foster mom got what everyone else is getting. She feels better now so I told her let’s get busy and do an update. How else am I going to find my furever home? Anyone who meets me laughs at my name because when they’re told that I’m 9 years old I do not act my age. I am a vibrant boxer baby that acts just like a, ok I’ll say it, puppy! I run and play and can be vocal when I want something, usually it’s around feeding time and when I have to go outside. When I’m sleeping or laying around too much I do sometimes favor my right hind leg. I was in a car accident when I was young. I usually lift it while I’m walking or standing. It only takes a few minutes for me to use it again. Foster mom has been messaging it and I really like that.  I had a few minor snarkles with my foster siblings only because I can’t hear them coming and when they get to close to my dish while I’m eating. It’s nothing that causes stress in the house. One and it’s done. Foster mom just wants you to know because my furever home would be best with another dog. I’m working on learning signs to communicate but most if the time I just copy my foster siblings. There is a sign foster mom does and when I see it I know I’m going to get lots of loving. I love to be loved! Foster mom say this week she’s going to start taking me outside for walks. I’m sure it will be an adventure for both of us. I’ll keep you posted. Until then, please consider inviting me into your home so I can we can have adventures together. I maybe 9 years old but I still have a lot of spunk in me!! Oh, I almost forgot, people love me SO MUCH that they donated to help partially sponsor my adoption fee!  Won’t you love me too?!

1/6/25-Puppy has been sleeping on the couch the last 2 nights and this morning at 5:30 she was barking and pacing. We all got up and went out and she had to go potty. Just now as I was eating dinner she went to the side door and nudged it. We went out, she did her business again. She’s really a sweetheart & ready for her new home!

1/5/25-My overnight dog sitter came today to meet Puppy. She was such a happy girl to meet the sitter. I showed her some basic signs I’m teaching Puppy and she was impressed. Puppy has a hard time learning some but she’s trying. One sign she has down is stop or wait. This girl is just an amazing puppy in a 9 year old body! She’s just a puppy at heart!

01/04/2024 – It’s hard to believe that I’ve been living with my foster family for one week already. I’m a happy go lucky 9 year old boxer but sometimes my body feels like my name puppy! As much as I love to run and play, I was in a car accident many years ago and I have a problem with my right hind leg. It makes me tire out faster than I want to and sometimes I limp.  After I’m rested I’m ready to go again!
My foster mom doesn’t think I’m completely deaf because I respond to certain sounds one of them being my dachshund foster brother’s bark. I can be sleeping and all of a sudden I hear this sound and I wake up. My foster mom has done the pot and pans trick while I’m sleeping but I have no reaction, so maybe i hear certain tones but maybe it was just vibrations?  They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but I’m trying to learn. My foster mom is trying to communicate with me using her hands and I’m starting to get the hang of it. She does this wiggly motion with her fingers and I’m beginning to understand she wants me to come to her so she can pet me. I love the attention. She also gives me this thumbs up sign when I did something good. She motions for me to go up the stairs to come in and I do it.  Little by little we are learning to communicate with each other.  I love being with my foster siblings but I do have to tell you I was cautious at first. And they don’t understand that I can’t hear them coming so they tend to startle me when I’m asleep.
I’m looking for a new forever home which will have to be a home suitable for a deaf dog. Hopefully, the New Year will bring one for me.
Stay tuned for more of my story as I get to know my new surroundings better and I learn more signs! Oh and I was allowed to be on the furniture in my previous home so I helped myself on the couch to sit next to my foster mom but my foster boxer brother wasn’t happy and he nudged me out of the way. I was ok and didn’t object I just moved to the other side of the couch. There’s plenty of room for both of us!

1/3/25-Puppy had her checkup & shots updated today. She tested positive for Lyme and anaplasmosis (bacterial infections caused by ticks) so she is being treated for them with antibiotics. She is Heartworm negative though. She is back to her foster home resting now. Everyone who met Puppy loved her and she was so happy to see everyone even the other dogs. Foster mom went shopping and she got a new fleece to keep her warm!

12/28/24-“Puppy” (yes, that’s her name!) is a very sweet 9yr old DEAF female boxer “Ala natural” with a tail!  She is an owner surrender due to unplanned personal changes & sadly she was not able to care for Puppy anymore. Her owner adopted Puppy from their local shelter at a few months old. Owner said she is good with cats & dog (lived with 5 others) & kids over 4. She also said Puppy is very sweet and energetic & healthy, just has a slight limp from a car accident many years ago. She does not have a strong prey drive and gets along with all dogs. Owner thinks she may have some slight hearing or is just intuitive at this point. She follows the other dogs around as you would expect. Owner says she has puppy energy still but can get irritable around younger nutty dogs which is no surprise. Puppy arrived to her foster home today thanks to her transport volunteers. She goes to the vet on Friday 1/3 for a checkup & to get her shots & heart worm/lyme test done.  Soon after that she will be ready to go to her new home!
