3/7/25-Sucre knows that my husband goes to bed between 8-8:30 every night. If he’s not on his way upstairs by 8:15 or so she will go sit by him, then get off the couch and go upstairs. If he doesn’t come up in a minute or two she comes back downstairs, and repeats the whole thing until he follows her. So sweet!
3/5/25-It’s been warm enough for no sweater but now we’re in mud season! Sucre doesn’t care that it’s raining though & loves going outside.
2/20/25-Sucre LOVES the snow! She was out there running around scooping mouthfuls of it up like a tiny bulldozer! Lol Once she’s inside it’s time for her to clean her toe beans and nap. She sits but she doesn’t fits in the small dog bed. She will just hang out in Macha’s crate with the door open for a few minutes at a time, until something startles her. It’s a big improvement for not going in a crate since she came into rescue. Though I think she just really likes Macha’s bed! Lol
2/15/25-Any standard poodle lovers around? This sweet, shy girl is a new foster we took over. Sucre’s previous foster is out of state for the next nine weeks so she needed a new place to land. She’s been learning how to be a dog and live in a house with people for a little more than a month, but had a little backsliding being moved to our house. She’s coming around bit by bit. Sucre will need a family that understands she will take a while to acclimate and needs space and time to do so. Definitely older kids that are going to understand giving her space until she acclimates and aren’t going to want to hang all over her or pet her right away. She would also do best with another dog that is confident. She will need work on leash training if you don’t have a fenced yard. She is already spayed and ready for a family to call her own!
2/6/25-Sucre did great with her spay & is almost fully recovered. She is a sweet girl & really does well with my other dogs. We just love her and want her to find some place to call her permanent home. Due to an upcoming long vacation we are leaving for soon, Sucre is moving to another foster home on Saturday. This gorgeous Standard Poodle is still waiting for her new home!
1/27/25-Beauty Parlor day!! Sucre, got groomed today and looks ready to be someone’s Valentine girl!! She is out cold from all the pampering! ( and dog stress poor girl) But, she made it through and looks great. Thanks to Caitlin my groomer, with the patience of a saint. Her spay was moved to this wed 1/29 & then she is ready for her forever home. She will make someone great pet. She is still trying to figure things out & still can be skittish & afraid of loud noises and sudden movements. No aggression or nastiness though & she just wants to be loved.
She will just need some patience and calm. She loves being with my dogs so would do great in a home even with other dogs or by herself. After her grooming she looks like a real poodle now!! LOL Love this girl & so will you!
1/24/25-Sucre is still a mommy dog to all the “babies” in the toy box. She gently carries them each day and puts them in the bed. She is such a sweet girl! Better get pre-approved now as she will be adopted quick after her spay on 2/5.
1/13/25-Sucre is enjoying a warm nap by the fire after her bath! Then a little outside play time. Her first toy!!
1/10/25-Sucre is doing fantastic actually! She is following her foster mom around and loves to have her head and ears scratched. She does not potty in the house and is playful with her dogs. She even followed her upstairs to go to bed on the floor Wednesday night. Sucre goes in and out with her other dogs and is eating well. She has been way too nervous to do a full bath & more grooming though, she really does need to be shaved down. She is doing really well other than that. Going outside for her business and coming in with the other dogs. She is sweet and just needs more time to decompress.
1/07/25-Sucre is starting to come out of her shell. At least she can do stairs unlike many commercial breeder dogs when they first arrive. She is doing much better and is even starting to run around the yard with the other dogs. We are still working on house breaking.
1/05/25-Welcome my new foster “Sucre” My big sugar. She is currently a shy, timid girl, but slowly coming out of her shell. Tail is starting to wag when she sees me. I am honored to be a foster mom. She stood for two hours for her first attempt at grooming, and never complained. So good. I had to do it all by hand because the clippers wouldn’t go through her coat and I couldn’t wash all that fur!! She’d still be wet next week!! LOL After I can now see there is a real standard in there!! Though she is shy, she has discovered bacon! Next phase, the bath. Stay tuned!
