3/13/25-Ever dreamt of having a snoring, farting, four-legged best friend? Well, dream no more! Meet Kansas, the most perfect snuggle buddy waiting for her forever home. Kansas is a 4.5-year-old sealed brindle female boxer, spayed, and up to date on all her vaccines. This charming gal is fantastic on a leash, loves car rides, playing in the yard, and being gentle with everyone she meets. Sure, she might be a bit shy at first, but with a few belly scratches and a tasty treat, she’ll warm up to you in no time! Snuggling is her ultimate passion. Kansas is low-key and chill most of the time. She isn’t a fan of other female dogs, but she’s a pro at ignoring them when they pass by on walks or outside the window. As long as they stay in their own space, she’s cool as a cucumber. Believe it or not, I’ve only heard her bark once! A boxer that doesn’t bark? That’s like finding a unicorn or a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Kansas is good off-leash and usually comes when called. She knows how to sit and lie down on command, and we’re currently working on “stay” and “place.” Her favorite toys are soft ones that she can toss around, especially those that crinkle or squeak. Although she can be a little rascal, she doesn’t chew on anything that isn’t hers. She loves collecting items that smell like us and snuggling with them until we return home (hello, slippers and blankets!). Kansas is a pro at crate training and happily puts herself to bed, although we usually keep the door open for her. She was diagnosed with early signs of hip dysplasia, but over the past two months, her energy and mobility have improved significantly, thanks to shedding 10 pounds! Daily walks will help her continue to improve. This gal can still hang with the best of them on marathon walks! Kansas is all about progress, no regression. She’s looking for the right person who wants a walking buddy by day and a snuggle buddy by night. Could that be you?
3/5/25-Down 10lbs! Ms. Kansas came into foster at 101lbs with 0 to no energy. Her favorite pass time was sleep, eat and repeat. Now she begs to go outside for walks, enjoys being active in the yard and runs circles like never before. I’m so proud of this sweet gal and how far she’s come. It’s onward and upward from here sweet lady. Your forever home is out there somewhere!!
1/23/25-Sharing an update on Kansas, who has been with us for almost two weeks now. As she’s getting more comfortable, her true personality is shining through. Kansas is a sweet, gentle, and laid-back pup who’s always ready to go with the flow. She’s already crate trained but doesn’t necessarily need to be crated. When I’m out during the day or at night, she’s free to roam in the living area, and she’s been great—no issues at all. Kansas loves being outside and exploring. We take two to three walks daily to keep her active. She walks wonderfully on a leash and loves to stop and smell all the roses. Kansas also enjoys playing fetch with her ball and has a good recall; she comes when called, even outdoors.
Car rides are a breeze once she’s in the vehicle. With her short legs and sturdy build, it can be a bit challenging to lift her into higher vehicles, but once inside, she settles down and enjoys watching the world go by. Kansas has done well with the male dog she was introduced to, although she seems to prefer not being around other females. She’s selective but handles interactions calmly.
The cat in the house isn’t an issue for Kansas. She playfully bows, wags her nub, and whines, hoping the cat will join in on the fun. Though the cat doesn’t reciprocate, Kansas waits patiently next to the cat for attention, with no problems.
Kansas is truly a rare find and will make an amazing addition to the lucky person or family who welcomes her into their home.
1/13/25-Introducing Ms. Kansas! Kansas is a rare exotic breed of pup I affectionately call the “couch hippo”. We’re working hard to get this sweet lady down to a healthy weight. Currently she’s 99lbs, I can’t wait to see her energy come to life as she gets healthier. She’s very sweet, friendly, and curious. Walks well on a leash, no pulling, and in no hurry what so ever. Her nub wiggles, she whines and play bows when she sees the cat. Too early to really tell though on the cat. She’s just like her former housemates, she’s a clepto & steals things! At least she hasn’t chewed on anything but her toys.
01/12/25-Kansas is a beautiful super sweet 4yr boxer owner surrender that came into rescue today as her owner just couldn’t take care of her any longer. She is from the same home as Dallas, Carolina, Denver & Dakota. Her owner said Kansas can be dog selective, so she will need to be an only dog in her new home. She is extremely overweight…by over 30lbs! Her owner said she just likes to eat. She has a torn ACL on her left rear leg & hip dysplasia (no surgery needed on either) & takes 100mg Carprofen(aka: Rimadyl) every 12 hours at cost of only around $30 per month. She seriously needs to lose all the extra weight to also help with her body. She is being spayed & updated on her shots on Wednesday 1/15 & will be ready to go to her new home soon after.
