1/26/25-Saige’s ride into rescue was the best day of her new life. She slept in a home that bathed her, fed her and gave her a warm fire to enjoy and human cuddles which she really loves. Although she is justifiably nervous and unsure, she actually seeks out human contact. She is very responsive to my voice and actually loves being talked to. Especially when I tell her she’s the most beautiful white boxer in the world….this is followed by lots of snuggling and hugs. And she just absorbs it all. She is under weight and needs about 7 to 10 lbs to gain, luckily she loves her food. She is on a good quality dry food, to this I add boiled ground chicken, Cranberry sauce, a tablespoon of vanilla Greek yogurt and some slices of banana! She loves the Cranberry sauce and eats that first which always surprises me. Since we don’t want to over load her system, she’ll get 3 meals a day to help her fill out but loving her food is a great start. Saige got to meet some friends today. She displayed her sweet self. When we got home, my neighbors grandchildren were over. She got very excited to see them: 4 to 8 yr olds. She was an excellent girl with them. Then she had her 2nd meal of the day. She ate 3/4 of it but ate all the Cranberry sauce, and is currently cuddling with my other foster, Sassie the mini Aussie. Check back soon as we get to know Saige better, and fall in love with her as I already have.
01/24/25-Saige is a beautiful & sweet 3 year old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder along with Sam & Hannah as they just didn’t need them anymore. They arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to their transport & overnight volunteers. Saige is extremely skinny & her ears are very dirty (but no infection) so we have an ear cleaner to help get her feeling better. She is being spayed next Wednesday 1/29 & then she will be ready for her new home. More updates as she gets to her foster home tomorrow.
