5/15/25-Someone had a birthday this week! We had expected Scarlett would be able to celebrate with her new home, but sadly no one has picked her even after 2 months!  We are shocked as mini schnauzers are so rare to be in rescue & are great dogs.  Due to her foster home’s upcoming vacation, Scarlett is moving to another foster home on Sunday.  She will have some new doggie playmates & a fenced yard to explore the outside more.

5/7/25-What a surprise. Today I put some small chunks of fresh carrot with a little bit of peanut butter on them in Scarlett’s food dish. And guess what, she ate them all while I wasn’t looking!

4/18/25-It’s beautiful weather so i am styling in my new bright green stroller at the beach today. Miss Scarlett seems to prefer to stick her nose out the side of her crate today. Lol I still have no clue if she has a voice as she hasn’t barked. She is crate and house trained & will come out of crate on her own but not very far. Prefers not to have an audience when eating.

4/10/25-It seems that Ms. Scarlett and I are both learning to be very, very patient. She’s starting to be a little more adventurous. She knows her name, outside and crate. Sometimes she needs a little bit of encouragement to get out of the crate. This morning she experienced snow. She’s house trained, no accidents at all since she’s arrived at my house. Is willing to snuggle with you as long as you want. Not sure she has a voice yet but she definitely snores! Lol

4/9/25-Day 28 and today she relaxed enough to fall asleep on my chest and…she walked out of her crate when called. Of course she woke up as soon as she heard the camera click! Lol

3/30/25-Scarlett is tucked in snug as a bug. She is still scared of everything and mom was running the vacuum.  She does well when on tie out to potty. Tried to leash walk her but she planted and dug in on the road.  She will need encouragement to keep on trucking.  She has been getting calming treats with the hemp and melatonin and lavender 30 minutes before a meal. She is definitely going to need a very patient family.

3/19/25-Today is day number 9 with Scarlett. She is sweet but still so anxious no matter where she is, even inside her crate sometimes. I’ve started giving her a hemp product recommended which seems to be helping. However, she still will not look at me when I call her name and will not willingly come out of her crate or walk around inside the house unless I put her far away from her safe place. Still trying to get her to come. Unfortunately she will not take a treat out of your hand so bribery is out of the question. It will take patience to get Scarlett to learn to be a dog & enjoy life.

3/17/25-I closed the door on Scarlett’s crate to help encourage her to explore rather than staying in it with the door open like she was choosing to do.  She seems shocked! Lol

3/15/25-Scarlett is sitting up in the crate and discovered a toy!

3/13/25-Day 3 & Scarlett has finally laid out flat in her crate which means she’s getting a little more comfortable. She will not voluntarily come out of the crate or stand up yet.  When we went outside this morning, she did sniff around and walk around a bit. When she was done she planted herself in the yard. Hopefully this will help in working on ‘Come’.

3/12/25-Right now Scarlett is such a quiet and timid girl. She’s eating and drinking though. I carried her outside this morning and she did pee. Doesn’t seem to care where she is in regards to the crate or the floor for the moment. She just kind of stays where she’s “planted”. Snuggles are awesome. Just came in from a ‘ carry me’ potty break. I put her in front of bowls. She did go into crate on her own. Slow intro to leash, is dragging around with her. She likes to snuggle once she’s warmed up to you. Still extremely anxious/nervous with any new sound & my house is very quiet). So far has only ventured out of crate on her own to eat and drink. She’s very quiet, not sure if a ‘bark’ is in there but it is only day 2.

03/11/25-Scarlett is a gorgeous 3 year old female mini schnauzer. She came in today from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue thanks to her transport volunteers. She was spayed & had a dental cleaning with 2 extractions.
She’s still so stressed but did eat & drink.
