3/21/25-Kara had a great trip to the Vet this past Tuesday… heartworm test was negative and everything else points to a very healthy 20 month old boxer. Kara has had the usual learning curve of commercial breeder dogs learning to eat from a dog food bowl, finding out where the water bowl is. Her housebreaking was unbelievably easy. It is like she knew exactly what to do and having two other dogs around, she picked up on going outside very easily. I think what is most enjoyable with Kara is her transition from living in a crate in a barn to being in a real home with all the new smells and things to poke your nose into, the ability to watch TV and the biggest one is having people that are loving on you all the time. She is soaking up that aspect of her new life just like a super dry sponge… Even if you make eye contact with her from across the room, she just gets so excited and wiggly walks over to get her loving. She is progressing so quickly in every aspect, becoming acclimated to being inside and it is a joy to watch it every single day. She would be good as an only dog or make a PERFECT second dog, especially with another boxer because of her easy-going personality and extreme desire to perfect the art of boxer wrestlemania. One of her best moments here is when she discovered the luxury of a real dog bed, and she actually claimed it by making sure it was fluffed up enough before she laid down on it (there should be a video posted of this wonderful moment on her webpage) Like every other boxer, she has the concept that she can be a lapdog and we’re working on sitting and getting loved on. Her fascination with watching TV is hysterical though she was not impressed when we watched Jurassic Park the other night and the dinosaurs were roaring and eating people. I can’t find enough good words to describe her disposition and personality… Lovable, cute, exceptionally high functioning tail wiggle anytime you talk to her, takes treats with the softest mouth and gives the best little sniffy butterfly kisses ever. She is now ready for her new home!
3/13/25-Kara already is showing her extraordinarily cute disposition and very friendly personality. She played with my 2 boxers today (male & female) & was on the bottom, just loving the fact that they were wrestling her. Her stubby little tail is always, always, always wiggling!
3/12/25-Kara is a beautiful & sweet 20 month old boxer from a commercial breeder. She had a prolapsed uterus so had to be spayed & then she was no longer needed. She came into rescue today thanks to Lisa for picking her up She seems very sweet so far and rides well in the car. She sees the vet next Tuesday 3/18 for her checkup, shots & heartworm/lyme test. After that & we get to know her a little better she will be ready to go home.
