9/14/25-Violet is such a happy girl- She had the zoomies this morning for the first time since she came to foster with us. She loves the other dogs and they are showing how to be a dog. She doesn’t mind be attached to a leash and dragging it behind her. She still doesn’t like it though when I try and walk her on a leash so she will need work on that in her new home.  Or, any dog stroller lovers out there-the Princess is ready for her chariot! Violet runs in and out of the house to the fenced yard on command. Since Violet still does not like people reaching for her (common with many caged commercial breeder dogs), I wait for her to come to me and she has no trouble walking all over me to play and get attention.  She likes to sit or lay with you too. As her fur has grown in she is just adorable!

7/22/25-Due to her foster home’s upcoming vacation, Violet is moving to another foster home on Tuesday.  More updates soon!

7/23/25-Violet is doing well so far at her new foster home.  She’s nervous right now but that’s not surprising. She was very snuggly at bedtime though. Getting along well with the other dogs and going potty outside.

7/15/25-Violet is still seeking her permanent family. She has shown remarkable development since her initial arrival. Violet’s humorous and lively nature is unmistakable. Violet will undoubtedly benefit from the presence of another dog in her new home.

7/13/25-Violet is a very comical girl. She is really coming out of her shell. She’s such a sweet girl. We can’t believe no one has scooped her up yet!

6/22/25-Violet is patiently awaiting her permanent family. She is adapting well and demonstrates a sweet disposition. Although she is still adjusting and exhibits occasional nervousness, pacing, and trust issues, she has formed a strong attachment to the outdoors and loves interacting with & following my 2 1/2-year-old grandson. Violet’s behavior is unique; when in my bedroom, she invites petting, engages in playful behavior, and allows belly rubs. However, when i stand up she becomes apprehensive about being approached. She will initiate contact, allowing limited petting, but remains cautious. Violet will require time to recognize humans’ kindness. On a positive note, she is housebroken, eats well, and has simple needs, requiring only her standard kibble.  Violet thoroughly enjoys the companionship of another dog & needs another dog. She exhibits a playful demeanor and thrives on interaction with them. Additionally, she has begun to display enthusiasm and greet me at the door. Upon my return from work, Violet becomes energetic and runs around the table. Violet is an exceptionally sweet girl who deserves her forever home.

6/6/25-Violet is doing well & her birthday is this weekend! She has been with me almost 2 months and is adjusting well. She still gets very frazzled with certain things & when nervous she does do a lot of pacing. I have tried to walk her on a leash but she is still very scared and will flail around like a fish so right now I’m not pushing that on her. She will need work on leash walking.  Violet is patiently waiting for her forever home with another dog to teach her more on how to be a dog. She loves to play with the other dogs & runs with them like a crazy nut! Her true joy is the other dogs.

5/24/25-Violet has come a long way. She still has a long way to go overcoming her past life, but she is getting more and more comfortable every day. She still gets very nervous and is still very skittish, but she will get there with patience and love . Violet loves to interact and play with other dogs. She loves my mother’s little dog. Every time she hears him, she runs to the back door and wants to go outside and play with him.

5/17/25-Violet has really came a long way in the short time that she has been with me, she is starting to really show her personality. She is just the funniest playful girl ever and loves to run around and play. She has discovered the toys, and it is her favorite thing to do is go in the toy box and pull all the toys out and spread them around the house. I have also discovered that running the lawn mower and doing yard work does not phase her at all. She walks right alongside of you. Violet loves to roll around on the rug on her back and twitch her back and forth. She’s just a silly girl. She’s starting to do a lot better with the more activity that I have in the house. She loves my grandson to death and he’s only two, she’s very curious in what he is doing. She does not let you approach her to pet her or grab her, but she will come up to you and sniff your hand and lick you. If you move slow you can pet her. Violet just needs somebody who’s going to be very patient with her as it will take time for her to adjust.

5/14/25-We have learned Violet will do best with another dog in her home to learn from & gain confidence from. She also needs a fenced yard. She is still learning to trust humans & gets very scared when stressed. Though she is not bad with kids, the extra activity & stress from kids around is rough on her anxiety.  Violet’s very patient & quieter home will eventually come along where she can take her time to thrive.

5/4/25-Just a little update on Violet. Violet is progressing and doing well. I have noticed over the last couple days with her having a little more activity in the house. She is still very nervous which is to be expected as she has only been with me for a couple weeks. From the point that I picked her up until after her spay she has been back and forth to the vet quite a few times to get her healthy, so I think but she’s a little untrusting and does not allow you to approach her to pick her up (no aggression just nervous). Also, right now when you do try to pick her up and walk with her, she flails around and tries to get out of your arms. I think she may think that I’m trying to take her somewhere. However, if she’s laying down she will let you pet her and she does like to be near you.  Violet will need a family who is very patient and understanding with her and her adjusting to life outside the breeder. We did have a couple accidents in the house which I think was due to the activity in the home and her being nervous. And of course it’s been raining for days on end too. Violet is a very special girl and will make somebody very happy.

5/3/25-Violet is doing great & is now ready to go home.  She’s still a little skittish and scared which is to be expected but health-wise everything’s good. She actually was running around the yard yesterday. I thought I was doing a video but apparently, I took pictures!  Lol
4/29/25-Violet is really starting to open up now. She started howling yesterday. Lol

4/27/25-Violet is doing well and recovering from her spay.  We did have a little setback a couple days after her spay but she is getting back on track now. She is finally eating well. I was trying to be fancy with her and give her canned food and different things on her kibble. But Violet is a basic girl and just likes her kibble. I do offer a little peanut butter in the bottom of her bowl just to entice her to eat. We are still battling with her UTI as she may need to go back to the vet for another dose of antibiotics. Violet is not a big fan of the crate so I do let her free range the house when I am at work and she does great. She still is a little skittish and scared and does not let you just approach her to grab her. You do have to move slow. Which is to be expected. Everything is new for her. Violet does go outside and comes back in on her home and when you whistle or call for her she does come. She’s such a sweet precious girl . More to come as I learn more about Violet.

4/26/25-Violet is such a good girl that I let her free range the house while I’m at work. She does not like the crate too much.

4/22/25-Violet is home from her spay and dental surgery. Still a little loopy, she will be resting for the rest of the day.  She is still fighting a urinary tract infection with antibiotics. Soon she will be feeling better & able to go home.

4/21/26-Violet arrived on Thursday April 17th very scared but super sweet. When I received her, she did come with severe infected ears. & a UTI which she is now on medication for. Violet has came a long way in the short time that she has been with me. We did have a couple accidents in the beginning but she has started to go outside and come back in on her own. She is doing great with her potty training and has not had any accidents in the house in a couple days. She is eating and drinking well . Violet is coming out of her shell. When Violet arrived she looked like a little sheep! I have since given her a haircut and it has changed her outcome tremendously. She has become vocal & had the zoomies. She’s starting to roam the yard and explore. She actually even got a little playful with my cat. Violet will be going for her spay tomorrow and she will be ready for her forever home after that.

4/20/25-Violet is also being treated for an ear infection & has at least 1 tooth to be extracted during her spay as it’s just hanging.

4/19/25-Poor thing has soooo much matted curly hair she looks like a sheep! I think the breeder must have shaved her head. I did order some pet clippers they’ll be in tomorrow so I will shave her down before her spay. I am sure she will feel much better soon.

4/18/25-I would like to introduce you to Violet. I picked her up last night. She’s very sweet but so scared right now. This poor girl. I already removed a huge pile of hair just from the bottom of her feet. I also got a quick vet visit today as she has a lot of discharge & I didn’t want her to suffer until the Monday checkup. The vet put her on antibiotics & will see how she is doing Monday. If the discharge is clearing up, then she will still be spayed as planned next week.

04/17/25-Violet is a sweet 3 year old female miniature poodle. She came from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteers. Her pre-spay appointment is Monday 4/21 & her spay is the next day. Once she is spayed & we get to know her better she will be ready for her new home.
