5/15/25-Lily is living her best life, especially loving her couch naps while her human works. Don’t let the sleepy photos fool you though, she is also full of energy and fun. She loves her walks, playing fetch, and tug of war. She bounces with happiness whenever we get home after leaving her home, whether it’s for just 10 minutes or a couple of hours. Lily is just so happy to be with her humans all the time and is such a lover. She still pays little mind to the cats, besides a friendly sniff here and there. This beauty is ready to be the best girl for her forever family!
5/13/25-Lily made some great progress over the weekend when she met my friend’s Shitzu and a couple more men. It still took her a while to open up, but with some treats and patience, she finally allowed two men to love on her! She just needs to move at her own speed, and she will open up to anyone she meets. She did great with her new little doggie friend too with some friendly sniffs and lots of nub wags. She can be around other dogs but just prefers to live in her home as an only dog. She’s patiently waiting for her forever home.
5/7/25-The vet had a cancelation, so Lily’s spay got moved up to tomorrow 5/8. Vet check went well. The only thing they pointed out is that she has Entropion in both eyes, so her lower lids are turned in a little. This may need to be fixed in the future by her new owners but nothing vet said needed done now. Everything else looks good. She is 46 lbs which he said is perfect based off his exam. We should have the results of her heartworm/lyme test soon. They did say she should probably have the Lyme test again in 6 weeks since she was covered in ticks after her unexpected adventure in the woods. She met a few men over the last couple of days and did much better. She wouldn’t let them pet her, but she didn’t bark at all. She smelled their hands, then stood there patiently while we talked. She just needs a slow introduction. Sweet Lily will be ready to go to her home in a few days!
5/1/25-Now that we’ve had a couple of days to get to know each other, I can tell you Lily is going to be an amazing addition to the family she ends up with. She loves being close to her humans and sleeps next to me in my office most of the day while I work. She adores my children (two 4yr olds)following them around as soon as they get home from school for the day. Lily has typical bouncy boxer energy when she gets excited, but listens great when you tell her down if she gets too jumpy. She can sit, lay down, shake, and stay. Walking on the leash goes well most of the time, but I did notice if my kids walk with us she gets a little anxious and doesn’t like if she thinks they are too far ahead. At those moments, she does pull a bit, but we will continue to work on it.
So far, she seems a little reactive to men. I haven’t introduce her to any, but if my male neighbors talk to me while I have her out on leash, she will bark at them. I do believe if she is slowly introduced it will go fine, but I haven’t had an opportunity to test this yet.
I’ve been having her sleep in her crate at night, which she isn’t a huge fan of. She will go in with no problem, but does whine for a while before settling down. The first night there were no issues, but did wake up to an accident this morning. We have not have any other accidents in the house though. I am sure it’s just adjustment to a change in schedule/routine.
4/29/25-Lily is currently very stressed out with all the changes. This often happens with owners who surrenders as it’s like they think they have been dognapped! Lol Today, I spoiled her with some yummy cheese to gain her trust and bring her into the house with me, and she hasn’t left my side since. She is clearly a very sweet girl who just takes a while to open up and be comfortable with strangers. She is not scheduled to be spayed until 5/13, so for the next two weeks we will work on getting her more acclimated. My cats have already started to come sniff around, and she has had zero reaction to them. With some work, I truly believe she will be a great fit for someone soon.
04/27/25-Lily is a beautiful 2yr old boxer owner surrender as the other dominant female dog in the house & Lily would fight. She was good with the other female & 3 me dogs in the house though, but another home she lived in she & other dog fought too. For this reason she would need to be an only dog in her new home. Lily is able to easily jump a 5 foot high fence & has had a history of getting loose this way. For this reason she would do better on a secure run or leash walked only. Lily lived with & is good with cats. She sees the vet Monday 5/12 for her pre spay checkup & heartworm/lyme test & then her spay is the next day on 5/13. More updates as we get to know Lily!
