6/5/25-Fletcher has been with us for a couple days now and he’s blended right it with the human and canine family. He’s got your typical confident bulldog personality that equally frustrates me and makes me laugh out loud. He’s perfectly house trained and crate trained. Sleeps with his soft blankie at night in the crate. He’s a quick learner as well. Because he absolutely adores his toys, we’ve been working on “leave it” He’s picking up on it really quick. Smart boy!!! Like all dogs, he’ll need consistency with training. He found some old basketballs in the backyard and they are his absolutely favorite….even if he can’t pick it up. I have to get a video posted soon. We’re also working on having him take treats with less enthusiasm. Our whole hand doesn’t need to be slobbered when taking a treat! Lol
5/31/25-Fletcher has arrived & his new foster home already loves him. Updates soon as he settles in.
5/27/25-Unfortunately, after a couple of days in his new home, they felt Fletcher was just too much dog for them. They said he’s been a big couch potato, mostly very docile, doing great with doing his business outside, eating well, loving his new chew toy that her son picked out for him and also loooveeesss to suck on his blanket for comfort. She said he’s won over so many hearts already, including her’s & he is a fantastic dog. She just felt Fletcher would be best with a more dog savvy person/family and dog experienced children. He has typical “bully” breed behaviors that can be intimidating to someone not use to the breed. His prior foster home already has an urgent shelter dog coming in so Fletcher will be going to a new foster home in CT this Saturday.
5/14/25-After a few days of getting to know him and watching his personality come out, There is sooooo much to say about this big little boy so here it goes… we picked Fletcher up from a shelter after he was found as a stray and not claimed. As he swaggered out from the kennel, I could tell immediately what a ham and people lover this boy was so on our 2 hour ride home, we stopped at a couple of breweries and everyone adored him! He is Great on leash and a tried & true brew dog now (but I’m sure he would like vineyards and cafés too lol)! He then met our 3 pack of boxers & everything went fantastic. He tends to be more on the submissive side as my female crabbed at him and he did not react, and just laid down lol. We quickly learned of his obsession with balls, saplings, and some chew toys. This boy could be a great landscaper if you need some shrubbery removed! LOL He has had 0 accidents in the house and no marking. for the most part, he will stay near you in the yard though he may wander so I will occasionally use a long lead which he has no problem with. Fletcher loves ice cubes, is not a fussy eater, & takes his post op RX buried in his bowl of food. He will go in his crate but prefers to be out with his people. He did a little whining in the crate on the first night but a couple of stern NO’s & sprays of water corrected it and he’s been quiet ever since. As a bully he has some stubbornness to him but he is also very smart, distractible, and teachable! My husband has been lovingly calling him meatball & hamburglar lol. Whoever gets this boy hit the jackpot!
5/13/25-Fletcher was neutered today plus had nares surgery(nostrils enlarged), soft palate trimmed & cherry eye fixed in one eye (all common issues in English bulldogs). He also had his ears flushed at the vet while he was under as they were extra dirty. They found some yeast so he is being treated with drops and a flushing medication. He is negative for all heartworm and tick disease.
05/09/25-Fletcher is a very sweet about 3-year-old English bulldog that was a stray to a shelter we work with & no one claimed him. He is coming tomorrow thanks to his transport volunteers. He will get his vet checkup, be neutered, have his heartworm test & shots & cherry eye fixed all next Tuesday 5/13. Once he is neutered & we get to know him better too he will be ready to go to his new home soon after.
