3/1/2022 – I am amazed at what I have learned since leaving the mill farm I spent the first 6 years of my life in. For a mill papa that hasn’t lived in a home, foster mom says I’m really adjusting well! She is amazed that my crate is dry and that I actually know when I need to “go”. I start pacing around the house and walk to this side door that lets me and my foster brothers out into the yard and we all do our business out there. Foster mom has determined I am totally deaf but don’t let that scare you! She has been teaching me some signs and I especially love when she calls me a good boy. There’s this sign she uses a lot when I’m mischievous and am not behaving…..I sometimes turn my head to ignore her. “No” is not one of my favorite signs. Lol
I’ve been eating out of my crate and the best thing is that when my foster brothers and I are done, we all go looking in each other’s dishes to see if someone missed something. I love getting cookies when I go into my crate. Foster mom says crate up to my foster brothers and since I can’t hear, she makes this motion and I see the cookies in her hand, and I do a little prance into my crate.
I need to have medicine in my eyes and always get the good boy sign because I sit patiently as she gently puts the cream into my eyes. Right now, I’m on 2 creams but one will stop in a few days. I had eye surgery and the stitches are coming out soon and that’s when 1 cream will stop.
I’m really adjusting to living in a home and hope that one day I’ll be able to have a home that I can call my own!
P.S. Foster mom is amazed by how I’m not afraid of the human touch and how I love to be cuddled and hugged by her and I also love when she strokes my body gently and gives me lots of love. Since I was rarely shown any affection, she is so happy to see that I don’t shy away from humans. I will also be good with kids 8 and up. Hurry & get those applications in for me as I can’t wait to start my new life with you!
2/20/2022 – Arrow has had a busy few days before settling into his foster home yesterday. Thanks to everyone who helped get this mill papa out of the puppy mill breeding industry and into the beginning of an exciting new life!
In addition to his neuter Arrow had a dental cleaning, has medicine for yeast infection in ears, had Entropion eye surgery (sutures out in 10 days) & on antibiotic eye ointment for 2 weeks. Arrow also has dry eye (common in bulldogs) so he will need daily drops for that for the rest of his life to keep the eyes lubricated and help with tear production. One of our other foster homes has a Bulldog with dry eye and the meds are $75 every 4-5 months and that is for cyclosporine drops which is the best treatment there is.
After a long ride yesterday, Arrow was able to stretch his legs and explore the backyard before meeting his 2 new foster doggie brothers. Once everyone got acquainted, it was dinner time. Arrow had no problem eating his dinner and then actually zonked out. We went out for a last call and he was crated for the night, no peeps from him, slept straight through the night and in the morning, his crate was dry.
After some observation, it appears that Arrow has very limited to no hearing. We will keep a close watch on this and will update his page further.
Right now, Arrow is just getting used to being in a home and the new freedom he has. Please keep watching for updates on this handsome papa as your heart will get pierced by the arrow of his charm.
