3/28/22-After just over a week here Lucy is doing great! She has been wonderful with our 11 and 12 year old kids. I haven’t had little kids over, but I suspect she wouldn’t care much as just adapts. We have family dinner at our house every week with our adult children too and it can be pretty loud and chaotic but Lucy doesn’t mind! She greets everyone and then toddles around until someone inevitably picks her up and she snuggles into their lap. She does chase the cat, but if he doesn’t run, neither does Lucy. She doesn’t seem to know the difference between him and the dogs. If the dogs run towards or at anything, she’s not far behind so I don’t think she is chasing the cat to go after him. A dog savvy cat would probably be best.

My big 100lb boxer Denver has absolutely fallen in love with her. I know how much he will miss her when she leaves. He always has his arm around her or is snuggling and cleaning her. She just transitioned right into the pack. She would be very lonely if she is an only dog, for this reason she needs another dog in her new home.

The first days here she had some food issues at feeding time with the other 4 dogs. She was easily redirected though to her own bowl and happily ate.  This seems to have subsided now that she knows food is not scarce. I think part of the problem was that my dogs are used used to sharing dishes and prefer to eat with 2 heads crammed in one dish (despite having their own) and Lucy doesn’t like that at all. Can’t blame her there!

Her new family should definitely be aware that she has a voice and doesn’t hesitate to use it, so an apartment/condo would not be the best for her. While she is crate trained, she isn’t always thrilled about being in there and she will let it be known. It takes her about 20 min to settle down but she sleeps through the night. I let them all out of the crates by 7am and if I’m even a few minutes late, she is sure to let me know! This little lady is ready for her new family!

3/20/22-My name is Lucy. I’m a puppy mill mama but I’m very happy to be done that chapter; all those kids were a lot of work!  I don’t remember much about my old life but I don’t think I’ve had much experience with stairs and the outdoors. I’m learning that the outdoors feels funny on my paws, but I’m exploring even more now! I seem housebroken, kennel trained and I learn quick! At my foster home, there are 3 boxers and I hold my own! My bark isn’t quite as big as their’s but my cute little hop makes up for it. I still have to learn to play nice with my toys and not destroy them but I’m a chewer and it’s so satisfying! I’m not much of a lap dog yet and am a bit suspicious when I’m picked up but I’m learning to trust. I snort like a pig and hop like a bunny! Right now I cower if humans come down at me and prefer you get down on my level first.  I’m sure once I get use to a loving home all will get better.

3/19/22-Lucy is a 5 year old French Bulldog. She arrived on Friday after spending a few days at our vet partner in Ohio then being transported to her foster home. She is spay and up to date, has corneal scar in her left eye but otherwise appears healthy. Updates from her foster home soon!
