9/11/25-Pork Chop has moved to his new foster home today. More updates soon!
9/4/25-Pork Chop is doing very well but unfortunately he needs to move to another foster home as an only dog. His current foster mom’s pack of pugs love him, but he is now too big & strong and her pugs still want to play, but he has seriously outgrown them. There has been no specific issue though. Her oldest pug has 2 bad ear infections & Pork Chop likes to take care of him & lick his ears. Her wildest & littlest pug who adores Pork Chop is now walking on only 3 legs. Looks like he sprained is back leg, likely trying to keep up running & playing with Pork Chop. At this point Pork Chop just has no idea how much he has grown & that it’s just too much for my little pugs. He will be moving to another foster home next week that is ready for this big, burly, sweet, bully mix, Pork Chop. Hopefully his perfect new home will be ready for him soon!
9/2/25-Still fostering little gremlin Pork Chop as his new home hasn’t found him yet. I discovered he likes his face washed before bed. It refreshes him. Lol
8/18/25-Unfortunately after about 2 1/2 weeks Pork Chop is back to find another home. He would play great with their younger boxer for long periods of time, he could randomly get upset at any of the 3 dogs & start a fight. It could be over attention or food but not every time. He has since shown same at his foster home since he came back, so for this reason he needs to be any only dog in his new home now. His last home did love him & was so sorry it didn’t work out to be with them. They wanted to share some great things about Pork Chop:
“Porkchop had a lot of great qualities.
1. Super snuggler/ master cuddler. Wanted to burrow next to you and it was adorable.
2. So super smart learning commands. Very treat motivated and was picking everything up so quickly. We were working on sit, down, and place. He would go to his place- sit and then lay down and he was already up to a couple minutes hanging out in the down position until I released him.
3. Excellent manners at the trainer and at the vet.
4. After his initial “OMG- we’re going on a walk” pull- he was great on a leash. Trotted right next to you.
5. He was good in his crate. We didn’t crate him much- when making his food he would be a bit yippy- like he was literally singing for his supper. But otherwise he was calm in it as long as he had a couple bones in there with him. He also realized that he could only have bones in there so if he did happen to find a toy he would bring it to his crate and go into it to play/chew it.
6. He played really well with Agatha our 50 lb female boxer. Inside they would wrestle or roll on their backs playing bitey face. Outside they would zoom all over together. We even have videos of all of that and him walking on a leash.
7. He was a bit of a water dog. He loved to plop himself on the sun shelf of our pool. He was also a surprisingly good swimmer- though he mostly stuck to wading.
8. He was good at self entertaining outside also. He was obsessed with the jolly egg and would just bulldoze it all over the yard for ages. He knew how to play fetch also.”
7/30/25-Pork Chop was adopted!
7/15/25-Pork Chop continues to develop his skills as a Renaissance man while waiting for his forever home. He is now housebroken. We have been taking him out to public places to socialize and he loves every person he has met. Unfortunately all the dogs he was hoping to socialize with ” don’t like other dogs”, per the owner. We will continue to work on socialization and leash training. My 13 lb pug Gonzo loves wrestling with Pork Chop (which is 3x his size) and it can’t be missed, no injuries & Gonzo is the one initiating it. So cute!
7/9/25-What a difference a week has made for this English bully mix! He came in like a swirling dervish, but in the last week has settled into a routine, is now responding to his name, and the command “gentle”. He has almost (almost) completely stopped jumping up on people and he is 80% house broken (using both doggie door & bells to notify his people he wants the door open). He is still all puppy and has wild zoomies & wants to wrestle, which his does with lots of noise & no teeth. He will do great in a home with older kids, or a couple who will love him & have some patience with his puppy self.
07/1/25-Pork Chop is a sweet, wild & crazy about 1 year old that was a stray to a shelter we work with & no one claimed him. We think he is an English Bulldog/pug mix. He got along great with the dog he met at the shelter. Pork Chop arrived today thanks to his transport volunteer. He got a lot of ooohs and awwws at the place where the meeting was to transfer him to his foster home. His happy tongue is a mile long! Lol He will be neutered tomorrow 7/2 & once we get to know him a little better too he will be ready to go to his new home.
