3/27/22-Jake is a happy, easy going, friendly, BIG snuggler. Is he all boxer? Not sure…but he is 100% good Boi! Jake got here less than 24 hours ago and has settled in like he’s lived here his whole life. He is house broken. He likes walks, and please don’t say the word unless you intend on taking him for one. He pulled a bit on a collar, but switching to a front clip harness was like getting doggie power steering…he walks next to you and on a loose leash with it. Jake is a little weird around cars. I’m not sure if he is scared of them or wants to chase them, so hold on when you’re walking him and make sure you’re aware of what’s around. He also wanted to chase a squirrel on a walk as well. He takes treats gently. He is a messy drinker, like a typical boxer. He let’s you inspect his ears and paws and touch his belly without issue. In fact, he seems to enjoy belly rubs and ear massages. Jake was introduced to both a male and female resident dog. He became bffs with the male within a few hours and they slept next to each other on dog beds his first night in foster. It’s naps and play bows and traditional boxer play boxing matches for these 2 gentlemen. The female is still warming up to the idea of having another doggie brother. More on that to come. Jake isn’t too interested in toys yet, but that may change as he settles in. He’s been much more interested playing with his foster brother. Jake has no idea how big he is and will jump up to put his paws on your chest when you aren’t paying him enough attention. He is easily redirected with an “off”. Jake also comes fully loaded with a tail. It totally gives away his poker face though and acts as his happy meter.  He lets you know when he needs to be pet, which is often, by putting his head under your unsuspecting hand. He likes to snuggle with people and is particularly fond of my husband. He hasn’t met our 8 year old daughter yet, as she’s been away on a trip, but he will on Wed and he’ll also be headed to the vet that day as well. Another update to come after Wednesday

3/26/22-Jake came into rescue today thanks to his transport volunteers. He is an owner surrender that just had a 3rd child & said they had no time for him anymore. They got him off Craigslist as a puppy & were told he is a purebred boxer. He looks like a typical backyard breeder type boxer (they don’t pay to dock tails when born & little longer nose), but he could have tiny bit of something mixed in. Jake lived 3 kids baby to 14 years old & was great with all & was good with dogs. He also lived with cats/kittens & even acted like a momma cat & gently carried one of the tiny kittens to his bed just to take a nap with him! He did great on his ride to his foster home & everyone fell in love with him along the way. Updates soon from his foster home.
