8/21/25-Lady Ivy Wiggleton is the sweetest little wagging tail you’ll ever meet! This happy pup is always thrilled to see you, greeting everyone with a nonstop wagging tail. While still a bit nervous around quick movements and loud noises, each day brings more confidence and comfort. She’s discovering all the joys of family life—snuggling in for belly rubs from our daughter, catching up on her favorite TV shows, and even learning to defend the castle with the pug pack (sometimes from invisible intruders, but we don’t tell her that!). She’s beginning to join the pack and is proud of her new role as guardian. Playtime is becoming a favorite, especially with toys, and when she gets really excited she’ll pop up on her hind legs to show it off. Nights are easy—she sleeps in her crate through the night and never makes a peep. Next on her list of accomplishments: mastering the doggie door and continuing her progress with housebreaking. With her tail always wagging, a heart full of love, and a growing sense of confidence, Lady Ivy Wiggleton will bring endless joy and laughter to her forever home. She will be ready to go home after her spay next Monday.
8/12/25-Lady Ivy arrived on Saturday, thanks to the amazing rescue and transport team. She’s made some progress since settling in, though we haven’t fully seen her personality yet. At first, she was pretty shut down, but little by little, she’s adjusting to her new life. Here’s what we’ve learned so far: Ivy is curious and alert, quietly observing all the new sights and sounds. From the couch, she keeps her eyes on us as we move about the house. If she’s on the floor, she’ll follow us from room to room.
She gets along well with our dogs and our 9 yr old daughter. The first day, she drank water but didn’t eat for about 24 hours. Kibble wasn’t her thing, so we mixed in canned food, which she happily ate. Later, her vet records revealed she has some dental issues and will need extractions, which likely explains her preference for soft food. We suspect she may have been hand-fed or offered snacks on the couch before—she certainly seems intrigued by “couch snacks” now and will gently sniff or lick your hand after a treat. At 22 pounds, she’s a bit heavier than the average female Cavalier. Once she’s more comfortable here, we’ll introduce walks to help her drop a few pounds. Her favorite place is snuggled up on the couch with us on a soft, fluffy blanket. At night, she sleeps in a crate in our daughter’s room. After just a couple of nights, she began showing excitement at bedtime—running to the stairs and standing on her hind legs. It’s adorable. She whimpered a little those first nights but soon settled and slept through until morning. She enjoys picking toys from the toy box, especially fluffy ones, she thinks they are her babies! Aww. Though she hasn’t played much yet. Crinkly toys make her a bit nervous right now. Just when I thought her storybook heart was still hiding, Lady Ivy Wiggleton of Snugglebury proved me wrong and let her personality shine. Today, for the very first time, I heard her gentle voice. After a playful game of fetch and a twirl or two with Anna, Lady Ivy curled up beside her and rested her head in her lap, as if she’d found her happily-ever-after. Pure sweetness, straight from the pages of a fairytale. Lady Ivy is scheduled for her spay on 8/25 and will have any needed teeth pulled at that time. More updates coming soon.
8/9/25-Here is a message from her overnight volunteer: “She was so good! After her bath and dinner she was sitting in her bedtime crate and falling asleep sitting up. Sooo cute!”. Updates soon from her foster home.
08/08/25-Lady Ivy Wiggleton of Snugglebury is a beautiful 5 year old female ruby colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She came in from a commercial breeder as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. Typical of ex-breeder dogs she has some dental issues may need some extractions while under for her spay. She has her spay appointment on Monday 8/25. Once she is spayed she will be ready to go to her new home.
