10/21/25-PuffPuff has been such a good boy in his crate – goes right in at bedtime and settles quickly. He can be a little finicky eater at times, but his belly is settled, and he’s finished with all his medications. He seems to have developed some itchies, not sure what from. His skin is not red, but I changed his kibble from chicken protein to see if he has a food sensitivity. He’s doing great with housetraining – we have him on a good routine, so he’s only had a few accidents in the house. PuffPuff is learning how to chew on toys (instead of me!) and loves to follow me around the yard. He is an attention hog and absolutely loves to be picked up and will nuzzle my neck when I do. He’s also starting to run around more but hasn’t figured out how to play with my dog pack so he would be fine as an only dog or with a younger dog. My dogs are older and if they get crabby at him, he is very submissive and respects their boundaries. He’s going to be a great little companion for a lucky family.
10/16/25-What a difference a few days makes! Puffenstein is a little monster no more! On night 3 I moved his crate back into our bedroom and he has been quiet as a mouse! He goes right in at bedtime, and waits for us to wake up in the morning. He has quickly learned to hold his bladder overnight too!! Such a good big boy! He loves his crunchy food and is learning about toys & treats but mostly this boy wants verbal praise and snuggles. He’s doing fantastic with house training too, as long as we are paying attention and taking him out frequently. His belly is feeling better and he is done with the dewormer. We are working on improving his coat now as it was matted, dry and had dandruff. This is the result of poor nutrition, no grooming, and untreated/recurring puppy worms within the litter. It’s only up from here for this lil boy!!
10/12: Little Mr. Puffenstein (aka PuffPuff) arrived yesterday after a long couple of days of travel & vetting. Poor boy has an intestinal issue which is common in puppies so the vet sent a week of daily antibiotics and probiotics in liquid form, easy to squirt in his mouth. He’s otherwise happy, healthy and a good eater. He’s a good car rider too, napping for most of the ride. His coat was a stinky mess so when we got home, I scrubbed him up good and even used conditioner, followed by a gentle blow dry. He was excellent letting me spray him down and didn’t seem to fear the dryer – a huge win because he’s getting another one today! LOL This boy is busy but also a great cuddler who sat on the couch letting me brush him for quite some time. I also learned that he loves cell phones & laptops – he was fascinated by the lights and movement, booping the screen with his nose & taking selfies! PuffPuff was a little monster in his crate, chirping, squeaking & grumbling much of last night. My typical spray bottle method did not work so I had to move his crate to the other end of the house. I’m sure he would rather sleep in bed with us, I felt so bad for him as it was his 1st night away from his litter mates. This tiny boy is going to be a great little addition to a home with time for a puppy so get your app in quick!
10/10/25-Mr. Puffenstein is a cute as a button 12 week old male mini goldendoodle (miniature poodle/golden retriever). He came in from a commercial breeder as he just got too old to sell. He arrived safely into our rescue tonight thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. His Mom was a red 25 lb mini goldendoodle & Dad was a red 15 lb mini poodle. So he’s likely got a little more mini poodle DNA than golden retriever. One of his siblings tested positive for whipworms & giardia so our vet sent antibiotics & and extra dewormer to be sure those are cleared up.
