12/18/25-This very energetic, silly and vocal puppy fills my heart with joy, cracks my face with smiles followed by some gentle belly laughs. She is quite the entertainer & full of super funny personality. We can’t believe no one has snagged up this fun little girl!
12/01/25-Dottie is really beginning to blossom these past couple of days. She let me touch & play with her paws, rolled over showing she wants to have a belly rub, more dancing, speaks her piece, an increased level of chewing. Thankfully she has many things to chew on other than the furniture or the blankets in her crate. Still working on potty training and some simple commands. She does bring a lot of sunshine. Still waiting to find her forever home for Christmas & a lot of her adoption fee is sponsored by her foster mom.
11/27/25-Dottie continues to bring joy and giggles to me. I’m getting better at recognizing her signals to go outside. This morning she thought that the snow was something to lick which made her be a tiny bit faster at doing her business. In fact, she helped me do some home maintenance today, I saw her licking the molding between the bathroom floor and the hallway and I discovered that it was not anchored. She was such a help when I was trying to hammer in the tiny nails. Then I figured as long as I was on the floor I may as well lay down and do some leg lifts. Oh I wish I’d had a camera, she tried making a nest on my stomach while I was doing my leg lifts, when I went to turn and do them on my hip she couldn’t keep her balance. I tried really hard not to laugh! Lol She’s also a great nosey neighbor & neighborhood watch girl, peeking out the window.
11/24/25-Came home to a lump in the back corner of her crate & under her crate pad were her favorite toys hidden! Lol As I was retrieving these items, she tried to pull them through the crate to steal them. Such a silly girl. She definitely makes me laugh and smile, especially when she’s tussling with all the blankets in her crate and growling and rolling over like she wants to be rolled up in her blankets like a burrito. I had my 10-year-old dog savvy grandson at my house today for about an hour. Unfortunately it was a disaster with Dottie. He knelt down to her level stuck out his hand and she did nothing but growl and snip in the crate. When I opened the crate door she continued to bark and bark and bark and then run away and hide the whole time he was here. All he did was sit at the table and eat his lunch with his back to her. We really don’t think Dottie should go to a family with kids or grandkids visiting. I don’t think she was in guard dog mode but she definitely did not exhibit anything positive while he was here even though he was being very quiet. She came from a backyard breeder with no exposure to kids & it seems like she is just scared of kids.
11/23/25-Only ‘treat’ she likes is Cheerios! Absolutely terrorizes crinkly sounding toys. Doesn’t mind the crate, but needs physical encouragement to go in. During the day I leave the crate door open when home. Once I sit in the comfy recliner, she is determined to join me…..then falls asleep. Awww!
11/22/25-Dottie is really coming out of her shell. Potty training going well (still trying to figure out her signal.). She can be quite vocal while playing with her toys with that little low growl and flipping over and under and whatever it is she’s laying in at the time. Still leery of other adults coming in the house. Doesn’t matter if it’s male or female. I don’t know if she’s being protective or just needs slowly be introduced to more than one person. Sleeps well in the crate at night. Typically goes outside first thing in the morning and if the weather cooperates we go for a bit of a walk then come back and have breakfast.
11/21/25-Well, seems I’m confined to my relaxing chair for the moment since somebody seems to be all snuggled in between the armrest and my leg for the moment. Potty training is back on track. We’re communicating a little bit better about that too.
11/20/25-So all her playing this morning, instead of eating must have been exhausting as now she is snoozing. She is doing very well with potty training. Sleeps all night in her crate without making a peep. She definitely has a way to let you know. She needs to be pet first thing in the morning after you go outside of course. She gives me so much joy I know Her forever home will love her just as much. Loves her crinkle toy.
11/19/25-Today Dottie got just so tired from playing & passed out on my lap. She likes to collect her treasures(toys & chews) & hides them inside her crate. She makes me smile and fills me with joy. I’ve partially sponsored her adoption fee because I want her to find a home before Christmas.
11/16/25-Day 2 here & Dottie is definitely feeling her oats today. She’s having a love affair with these little small tennis type balls and chew things so she doesn’t chew on the crate. I’ll bet you she spent at least 20 minutes barking at the reflection in the doors of credenza since her safe bed is near it. She’s doing a low growl song. Had a lot of laughs today. Her antics are very distracting when I’m at the computer. She dances when I carry her bowl of food from the container to where she eats. Unfortunately I’m not coordinated enough to get a picture of that! Lol She does not like my vacuum, managed to jump up on my bed while I was in that room. She’s not so sure about cars coming by the sidewalk yet when we go for a walk. She’s doing great on my street as it’s a dead end.
11/15/25-Dottie is now at her new foster home She has lots of puppy energy which matches her curiosity. She sees her reflection in the glass where my TV is and is barking at it. Lol Now she’s tired from the sniff fest earlier & cuddling in her bed.
11/14/25-Tomorrow Dottie is moving to another foster home. She was just too nervous around the young kids in the current foster home. Updates soon from her new foster home.
11/12/25-Dottie has really started to show her puppy energy with zoomies and always wanting to play with her toys. She also loved her first time in the snow. She is as sweet as can be with me, but unfortunately we have run into setbacks with my cats and younger kids. She is fine with the cats a lot of the time, but she will also get a little protective and bark/nip/chase them away if they get to close to me or come into her space. Luckily I have two dog savvy cats who go on their way. Probably best to be without cats in her new home. I believe the energy level of my two 4 year old children is a little much for her to handle. She doesn’t like them running around and will frequently growl and run at their ankles if they get too close to her. We will continue to work on that as much as we can while also keeping my kids safe. She is still a puppy so this can be worked on, but for now would do better with a home with older kids or no kids.
Dottie is still doing well with going potty outside as long as she is prompted and taken out every few hours. She will still whine if she has to go, but won’t go to the door. Overall shes doing great though.
11/9/25-Dottie is healing well from her spay on Thursday. She’s as happy and playful as can be. We have taken a few short walks, and overall she does great on the leash! She’s doing MUCH better sleeping in the crate at night, with little to no complaining after going in. This cutie is ready for her new home!
11/6/25-Dottie had her spay today and did great. She’s a tiny little thing, only weighing 9.4 lbs, and needs to put on a little weight. The vet thinks after a few weeks of normal meals she’ll get to where she needs to be. She tested positive for worms so she has an additional wormer (Panacur) to clear them up. She will need another dose in a month & again in 3 months, just as precaution to be sure it kills all the worms. We visited PetsMart the other day and she did great walking on her leash and sniffing around the entire store. She still skittish, as expected, but has slowly started to open up. She met my best friend’s shih tzu and loved him, and is also doing great with my cats. Dottie is taking a little time to open up to my kids, but started letting them get close for pets today and didn’t run away. She just needs to get used to the excitement that comes with having two 4 year olds running around. This little peanut is going to be such a great addition to someone’s family once she gets comfortable and starts to open up. This little peanut is ready to go home!
11/5/25-Dottie’s pre-spay appointment went well. She is slightly underweight at 9 lbs. She has an umbilical hernia that they will correct too during her spay tomorrow.
11/4/25-So, after two nights here is what I know about Dottie. She is an energetic little pup who loves to play and be pet. Typical puppy the first time away from her littermates, right now she whines and barks any time there is a door between us and takes a while to settle in her crate when I leave for a little bit and for bed. We will continue to work on the crate training and making sure she knows it is a safe space for her. We haven’t had an accident in the house since yesterday morning. Dottie doesn’t go to the door to ask to go out yet, but she will start whining when shes ready. Though I have a fenced yard, she has only been out on a leash so far and does surprisingly well walking now that she’s gotten a little used to it. She is a little nervous when meeting new people, but with a slow approach she is pretty quick to open up and allow them to pet her. Once she has been around my kids, I will provide an update on how she does with them. She wants to play with the cats, but hasn’t gotten too much into their space where it has become a problem. She’s a typical puppy with a lot of energy to play with her house mates. I believe Dottie will do well in a house even with other pets, with owners who are ready to handle the puppy phase and training that comes with this adorable puggle.
11/2/25-Dottie arrived at her foster home this afternoon. She is a 9 month old puggle who right now is a scared little girl, but still sooo sweet. She will be spayed 11/6 and ready for adoption soon after that. I can’t wait to see her personality grow. She is very unsure of her new surroundings, but I’m sure after some love and attention she’ll open up soon.
11/02/25-Dottie is an adorable about 9 month old female puggle (pug/beagle) rescued from an overcrowded backyard breeder along with 4 other puggle & puggle terrier mix puppies. She has arrived safely thanks to her transport volunteers. We have had many others in past from this breeder & they have all been very sweet & great dogs. She has her vet checkup & shots on Wednesday 11/5 & her spay Thursday 11/6. After we get to know Dottie a little bit more she will be ready to go home.
