1/21/26-Hello all – Luka here. I am doing really well in my foster home. My new food and slow feeder have reduced gas. I have been taking Cosequin for two weeks. I am getting more flexible everyday. Tonight I even did some zoomies with my friend Roxy. I surprised mom and jumped up in the recliner with her and stayed for a bit. I really love getting attention. If mom is not home both Roxy and me hangout in our crates. It is ok because once she is home we hang out and at bedtime I just curl up in a chair for the night. I got to chew on a collagen chew. I really enjoyed that and when mom took it away I did not get upset. I do not chew on shoes or clothes left within my reach. I don’t jump on counters either. I greet all our guests without jumping and barking. I do love the extra attention when we have visitors. I am ready to meet my forever family. I will be a great companion.

1/16/26-I changed Luka’s food to Sensitive Stomach of the same brand and now use a slow feeder & it has reduced his gas. The Cosequin is helping his flexibility & mobility. He is still waiting for his new home.

1/09/26-Today we started Luka on over the counter Nutramax Cosequin chewable Joint Supplement for dogs to see if that helps him with his arthritis & stiffness. It’s not expensive (about $13 per month). Based on our observations on Luka & the arthritis in his hips & back legs, we think he is likely closer to 7 years old. He loves his foster sister Roxy. He climbed into her open crate to take a nap & she cuddled up to him too. Aww! He is a good boy & he will find the right home to love him.

1/01/26-Luka is doing phenomenal. He will use the crate but I have not needed to use it for over a week. At night he will either sleep in a chair or on the floor of my bedroom. He is eating like a champ and always drinks his water. He is not great on a leash – training should help with that. He always lets me know that he needs to go out by going to the door and circling back to see that I am following. Luka isn’t much of a barker but will occasionally bark or whine a bit. He is very tolerant of my dog even if she is being a bully. Today I had a friend come over. He was very taken with her. He stayed close to her until she left. He is very gentle and loving. He is heartworm & lyme free.  He does have some stiffness in his rear legs & he would benefit from a daily glucosamine supplement.  I have been feeding him 4Health (Tractor Supply) Lamb and Rice dry food. This contains probiotics he does well on that food but is gassy, it may be helpful to add a supplement. Luka will be a great addition to your home & he is now ready to be adopted.

12/23/25-Luka here settling into my temporary home and new name. My name means bringer of light. I have a bossy boxer girl to keep me company. She is making sure I know my place. I am doing well learning the lay of the land. I know where to go when I need to go out. I am eating and drinking and of course sleeping better now that I am in a home. My foster mom gave me a warm bath, she used a mitt with some nice soap. Now I smell better and the mitt felt great. I must be a really good boy because last night I fell asleep in the big chair and she let me stay there all night. Well until I woke her at 5:30. Today she has to go to the office so I am crated. The bossy boxer girl is hanging out in the same room so at least I have company. I get my heartworm/lyme test & distemper combo vaccine next Tuesday 12/30 and then I will be ready to go to my new home. There are many homes interested in me so don’t miss out & apply now!

12/21/25-Luka is well-behaved and seems to be housebroken. He is a tall boy with a ton of sweetness. We are working on getting his heartworm/lyme test & distemper combo shot asap. Once these are done & we get to know him a little better Luka will be ready to go to his new home.

12/20/25-Luka is a stray about 5 years old neutered male boxer that came into rescue today thanks to his transport volunteers. Sadly he was found abandoned at a dog park, turned into a shelter & no one claimed him. The shelter did a thorough vet check on him & says he has significant arthritis (joint inflammation and stiffness) in both of his knees & he appears to have pain in his hips as well. They recommended over the counter joint supplements for now to see if that helps. If after a while that doesn’t help he may need to go on stronger prescription medication for pain & inflammation in the future with his new owners. The vet also gave him two weeks of antibiotics as precaution.
