2/20/26-Jiminy Cricket underwent his neuter yesterday and he is doing great! It didn’t seem to phase him and he is sporting a post-operative inflatable collar like a champ as we try to keep things low-key for now while his incision heals. His bloodwork came back negative for heartworm and tick-borne disease. Hurray! His appetite is as good as ever. He is contently chewing on his Benebone next to me on the loveseat. And by the way, he rides well in the car. I keep him secured with a harness and seatbelt latch, otherwise I am convinced he would prefer to be on your lap. He is the cutest love bug; my granddaughters adore him. They say he has “wings and springs” the way he can jump straight up into the air or launch halfway across the living room off the loveseat when someone comes to the door. All he needs now is a family to adopt and give him the best life ever.
2/10/26-Jiminy Cricket is becoming a bit less excitable and more relaxed. Quite the improvement in just a day or two in a safe and supportive environment. Seeks attention. He and my Boston are right there seeing who gets to be the center of it all. Loves the stuffie toys, chewing on the Benebone, and a stuffed KONG. Very playful. Follows me and my adult son everywhere. Cricket had a potty accident this morning, which can be expected for a dog in a new environment. So we are continuing to work on that. He potties outdoors every time we go out. So he knows! He is walked in the backyard on a long lead and never wanders far. Always returning to my side or to the back door because he, like the rest of us, is not a fan of the cold, especially on his feet. His appetite is great and he is very food motivated. Aside from being underweight he has some hair loss on his ears and his front feet. This could be caused by a number of things so we are approaching it from an allergy and nutrition aspect to see if it improves with time. The vet prescribed him Apoquel twice a day for 14 days to see if this calms the redness. It is a time of transition for this sweet little Cricket. He soothes himself to sleep by suckling on his blanket. He will make someone a darling companion.
2/9/26-Jiminy Cricket arrived last evening to his foster home, thanks to the amazing transport team. He is the most adorable energetic little guy who searched the house over. After a good meal, a successful outdoor potty break, he settled in his crate on his fluffy white blanket and took a nap. Later he introduced himself to the 9- and 11-year old grandkids and seems to have a curious interest in everything and everyone. He slept well over night in his crate. This morning he went right to the door when let out of his crate and promptly did his business outdoors. He is a brisk little walker and seems to accept being in a harness and on leash. A great breakfast, a little supervised romp time with my female Boston, and then settled in the crate for a well needed morning nap. He needs to put on some weight, and we are taking care of that! He loves to eat. We are planning a visit to my son’s once he is more settled to see how he is with dog savvy cats. His pre-neuter vet visit is on 2/16 with a neuter on 2/19. So much going on for this adorable, sweet little Cricket.
2/08/26-Jiminy Cricket is an about 4 yr old male Boston terrier that was a stray to a shelter we work with. He came into today thanks to his transport volunteers. His pre neuter checkup is Monday 2/16 & neuter Thursday 2/19. Once he is neutered & we get to know him better & his needs for a new home he will be ready for his new home.
Here is also a comment from one of his transport volunteers:
“This guy is a love bug! I had the pleasure of transporting him.”
