10/18/26-Mick has be offered out three times now- two changed their minds without ever meeting him and one sat with him told him how perfect he was and left without him. I am not sure what’s going on but with is one great dog. Happy- friendly with both animals and people- playful. He needs a home with another dog- he just loves kids. Great on car rides.

10/01/26-Mick is one of my favorite fosters and there has been many (over 125). This guy is absolutely wonderful. He loves everyone he meets and is so happy. He is a big cling-on and loves to be where his family is located. Mick does not like to be crated but he doesn’t need to be. He is such a good boy. He loves kids too. 

 9/24/26-Mick is doing really well at our house. I’ve been working with him on his grooming . I doubt he was ever groomed as a puppy but he trusts me and lets me brush and trim him. 
He will be going to the groomer again next week and I’m going to take a video. Once you gain this guys trust he will allow you to do anything. This dog LOVES life . He is so friendly and happy. He will gladly go to anyone that offers him a walk or a ride. Mick is up for any adventure you’re willing to take him on.  He is doing great enjoying his playtime with his Silky Terrier foster brother. Mick needs another dog and prefers lots of toys. 

9/22/26-Mick has gotten a bad rap. People are passing him up because of a post that said he misbehaved at the groomer. He was very matted and likely it was his first ever groom in his life. It’s very painful & scary for a dog when they are not used to being groomed. I have been working on getting him desensitized to grooming . He now comes when I call him to get his face trimmed by me & doesn’t react bad at all. This dog is fantastic and deserves a great home.

9/18/26-Looking for the perfect co-pilot? Mick is your man . This happy guy rides great in the car, loves people and going on adventures. Mick went to a family member’s house to test him with a home with multiple cats instead of just 1.  While he is alright in a one cat home, 5 cats was too much for Mick.  He was over stimulated and running around barking like a kid with attention deficit disorder. Lol  He wasn’t mean at all though. 
 
9/16/26-Due to a medical emergency with another dog that his foster had to take on, Mick had to move foster homes and is now staying  with his shelter mate Teddy “West Side” . Both dogs were sprung in June from a greater shelter we work with. Teddy was adopted by us and sadly Mick is still waiting. Mick is very friendly & always wants to be in your lap. He either needs someone home most of the time or another dog to keep him company. Mick loves to play with toys, I don’t think we had that many toys laying around when our kids where little. Lol This guys loooves… kids. Mick has such a personality. I can’t believe he hasn’t been scooped up yet. 

9/3/26-Due to some rescue angels Mick now has a partially sponsored adoption fee to help him find his new home. 

8/26/26-I would like to update you on Mick. He is a VERY SWEET dog! We really like him. He sleeps in our bed, when I wake up in the wee hrs. of the morning, he goes outside quick, comes back in & goes back to sleep. He’s totally housebroken, has a fenced-in backyard that he does his business & comes right back to the door. When we leave, he used to cry & bark but we realized soon that when he’s in the same room with our dog & not by himself, he handles himself better. Loves riding in car, running in yard, squeaky toys, older kids, people. He loves his whole body touched, rubbed & scratched ( I have been holding & rubbing his paws, was not able to do that before) & likes to be in a lap whenever he can be. As with any dog (or person!), he has an issue or 2. He DOES NOT go in a crate & he DOES NOT like to be brushed, trimmed or groomed in any way…he will bite if you force these things on him. Not putting him in a crate totally solves 1 issue.  For the grooming which he’ll need probably quarterly, that will have to be discussed with an experienced groomer, they are trained to safely handle these kinds of situations. Obviously he had some kind of “childhood trauma” & we’ll never know the reasons why he reacts like that. But besides that, a little lover. He needs a dog friend to make him feel safe. He’s very submissive to my alpha cattle dog but they play together great. When my dog “wants too”, of course!
All in all, I think he’s a really nice dog to have around.  There’s so many good things to tell about Mick!
 
8/16/26-We have determined Mick has separation anxiety if home all alone without another dog.  We had left Mick in our bedroom & our dog in the living room. Our neighbor across the road texted us when we were gone to see if all was ok as Mick was screaming.  So after that we tried leaving them out together.  I was cautious as my dog sometimes doesn’t like Mick near her.  I went with my gut instinct & left them together & I don’t think he even barked. I had a belly band on him & it was dry when we came home.  So he definitely needs another dog that can be out loose with him when left alone. 

7/29/26-Today on “who’s in the office”. Mick the Yorkie/ Shitzu mix. It was Mick’s first time at the bowling alley. He was unimpressed and took a nap. Lol

7/22/26-Mick is doing well back at his foster home. No accidents at all & submissive to my bigger dog Dottie, totally respects her space. He wants to be with us all the time, very watchful & velcro-ish. 

7/20/26-Unfortunately after 3 weeks in his new home Mick is back today to find another home.  Mick does not like to be crated. He wants to sleep with his people.  His foster gates him in the kitchen when they leave. Mick is a sweet boy he came into rescue very matted so he did not enjoy his grooming experience. So new owners will have to find a groomer with patience. Mick is good with other animals and loves to play with other dogs so much we feel he needs another playful dog. Mick loves walks and prefers a fenced yard to a tie out.

7/5/26-Mick is doing well in his new home & beginning to decompress. He still follows me around no matter where I go. We are both working on communicating. I believe he did have sometype of training as he knows “wait”; outside; working of ‘Off’;definitely knows “NO”. I’ve discovered he is NOT fond of my electric vacuum; blender; carwashes; fireworks or being put in his crate when I leave the house (can’t even bribe him with a treat not much interest, unless its liverwurst).

Occasional accidents and has not pooped in my yard, so we go for walks until he does. This morning we walked 1.2 miles to accomplish this necessary body function. Woo Hoo, he has discovered toys, especially the ones he can toss around or CHEW the dickens out of. Pretty much cleans his bowl immediately after putting it down.

 Vet visit (7/1)went well, loved everyone. Tipped the scale at 14.2 lbs (they said he’s overweight). As for a shot, not happy at all and would not let me touch him there until the next day. Our first meal ‘out’ at my Mom’s last night went VERY well. He leapfrogged under the table to lay at everyone’s feet. After one trip outside to potty; he knew which door to go to! Does not get distracted on walks, typically doesn’t bark back at other dogs but truly wants to play. I had my 15 yr old granddaughter spend last Monday night (she runs cross country); let’s just say Wink has wings- he was so fast! We are doing well, trying to find a more reasonable Basic Obedience

class. Waiting for my fence to be installed.

 

6/28/26-Mick was adopted.

6/16/26-We’ve had Mick for 2.5 days. He got a good grooming last night, looks so handsome! He had to be muzzled though as he was not a happy camper being groomed. Other than that, all he wants to do is, 1… Be petted & held. 2… Nap. 3… Nap. Lol. He whines to go out to potty, currently wearing  diaper just to prevent marking. He’s a really a nice boy…I did leave him alone in the house while I washed my car & he barked & whined but… after he escaped into the living room with my dog, he stopped. Thinking she probably made him feel safe?

6/13/26-Mick is a very nice we think Shihtzu/Yorkshire terrier mix that came into rescue tonight from a great shelter we work with. Without a DNA test by new owners we don’t know his true mix. He originally came in as a stray but the shelter found the owner based on his microchip & they didn’t want him back. He came in super matted & we will be working on grooming him. He has his pre-neuter vet appointment on Wednesday 6/17 & then his neuter is Monday 6/22. Once he is neutered & we get to know him better he will be ready for his new home.
