7/13/26-Blitz continues to reveal his amazing loving, active puppy self every day.  He recently went to a celebration for pets sponsored by a local, independent pet supply store, it had vendors, a small crowd, families and lots of people.  Great news, Blitz is super mellow here, great with kids of all ages, total strangers, strange dogs & crowds.  Blitz loved every moment of it, he made friends with a 4 year old boy who was determined to feed him treats ( Blitz took treats from his little hand perfectly), he wanted pets from everyone and he interacted well with every dog he came across.  With the exception of him trying to walk out with an unpaid pigs ear he did amazing. Lol 
 
7/9/26-Hi, I’m Blitz, I am an amazing pug cross who loves all humans.  I like hanging out with my pug friends and my foster Mom, it makes me happy.  I love to be active getting belly rubs, and running around the house.  I can even use a doggie door  to let myself in and out. Sometimes I stay with the pugs here,other times I wander off by myself.  I’ve been sleeping on the  big bed with everyone and LOVE IT!  I am working on House training, but it’s a work in progress. No toy or food guarding here. The first night I picked up a toy, looked at everyone, no one reacted, so I put it down.  Did that multiple times waiting for someone to react, no one has.  Lol I can have a bit of anxiety, but being able to stay active, and surrounded by at least 1 other dog (or a pack, or a person) who is calm makes me forget I even have anxiety.  I went to Mackeys store & I was super social with everyone.  I will be working on meeting other dogs in social settings and children this week, I’ll let you know how I do.
 
7/8/26-Trying to put together what first foster home experienced and what we are seeing from Blitz now at my house which is totally different.  Blitz is an active dog with some anxiety and would do well with a fenced in yard.  He is super social with humans and my pugs (all of whom are smaller than him), still need to test him out with random dogs and cats.  He needs to be “engaged” whether that is with an active family that has a schedule with someone who works from home, or a house that has a balanced pack, or even just 1 dog who is not a domineering alpha who he can play second fiddle to all day.  Sitting in a crate for long periods will not work for him.  He is not resource guarding if no one else is, not food aggressive.  But….likes to bark if someone else is, likes to run around when everyone else is (even if he doesn’t know at what), he seems to like the reassurance of the others. 
 
7/7/26-Blitz was having some high anxiety issues at his foster home & we couldn’t determine why, so he moved to a new foster home today.  He is doing great already & when his original foster home left him they said Blitz was the calmest they’ve ever seen him. They also said it was absolutely amazing & clearly the right place for him to wait for his forever home.  

7/3/26-Blitz is doing great after his neuter surgery! He has finished his medication and has officially started eating full meals. Huge progress! He has also mastered the doggie door… mostly by chasing foster Scruffy in and out of it several times. Lol Apparently, Scruffy makes an excellent teacher—and an even better chase buddy. Blitz is still quite anxious and has a whole lot of love and energy to share, so we’ve decided to give him some scheduled downtime in an x-pen. It gives Blitz a chance to decompress and gives everyone else a much-needed little break. Scruffy hasn’t exactly filed a formal complaint about Blitz’s enthusiastic displays of affection, but he has resorted to hiding under the deck, retreating into a crate, and even escaping onto the kitchen island chairs. (He’s quite a nimble athlete. Lol) Oh, Blitz… we love you too, buddy. We really, really do.

7/2/26-Blitz absolutely adores foster boy Scruffy, and he loves kids too! He enjoys being part of the action and would be happiest in a home where he has plenty of opportunities to play. Like many dogs, Blitz is still learning that toys and bones don’t always need to be guarded. While he’s wonderful with children, he’d likely do best with older, dog-savvy kids who understand canine body language and can respect his space around high-value items. Blitz responds well to gentle correction (including a quick spritz from a water bottle) and generally respects the pack leader’s guidance, although he isn’t afraid to test the boundaries now and then. Since he’s only recently been neutered, he’s still working through the effects of those lingering hormones, which can contribute to some of his behavior. Since his surgery, there have been two incidents where Blitz growled when he believed our daughter was reaching for a bone he was guarding. He’s currently on medication, and we’re continuing to work with him on these behaviors. His energy level is very high! Blitz would love a canine companion who enjoys playing. He seems to prefer a more submissive playmate, as he’d very much like to be in charge. Blitz is still settling in and has quite a bit of anxiety. He rarely slows down long enough to nap or truly relax, so we’re hopeful that as he continues to decompress, he’ll become more comfortable and confident.

His appetite is still a work in progress. Since arriving, he’s eaten only small amounts of kibble. We’re fairly certain he enjoyed plenty of table food in his previous home, but that’s not part of the menu here. We discovered he loves plain Greek yogurt, so we’ve been mixing a little into his kibble. He happily licks off the yogurt and will reluctantly eat a few pieces of kibble afterward. The good news is that he’s drinking plenty of water, and despite eating less than we’d like, his energy certainly hasn’t suffered! He’s also finished his post-surgery medications, so we’re hopeful that his appetite will continue to improve over the coming days.

7/1/26-Blitz is recovering well from his neuter! He’s supposed to be taking it easy while he heals, but clearly no one explained that to Blitz. Even with a little medication to help keep him calm, he’s still full of energy and ready for action. At the moment, he’s patiently (or as patiently as Blitz can manage) waiting for foster boy Scruffy to wake up from his nap on my lap so they can get back to playing. These two are quickly becoming the best of friends!

6/30/26-Blitz is now home from his neuter yesterday and doing great! You’d never know he just had surgery. He’s full of energy and feeling pretty anxious, but that’s understandable. He wasn’t with us for long before his procedure, so he really hasn’t had the chance to decompress and settle into his new surroundings. Despite all the changes, Blitz is incredibly sweet and affectionate. He loves to play and gives the gentlest little kisses. He still has some nervous, anxious energy, but we’re hopeful that will fade as he realizes he’s safe and has more time to adjust.

Blitz also met our other foster Scruffy today! He was very eager to play, but Scruffy wasn’t interested in joining the fun just yet. Hopefully, with a little more time together, they’ll become the best of buddies.

6/28/26-Blitz absolutely loves kids! He had a wonderful time playing fetch in the yard with our 4-year-old neighbor. He was such a good boy—bringing the ball right back every time and keeping all four paws on the ground. What a gentleman! He’s great with our 10 year old daughter. He was very happy to greet her this morning when she woke up. It’s pretty clear he’s enjoyed a little human food in his past. Whenever someone is eating, he gets very excited and sits as handsomely as possible, hoping you’ll share a bite. His first night was a little rough. He didn’t get much rest and was waking up about every 15 minutes. When someone got up in the middle of the night, it startled him, and he was shaking like a leaf. Poor sweet boy. He needed lots of reassurance before he was finally able to settle down for a little while. He ate a bit more at breakfast this morning. We’re wondering if he may have been more of a grazer in his previous home, so we’re giving him time to adjust at his own pace. He’s been invited onto the couch, but so far he hasn’t chosen to settle there. Maybe he wasn’t allowed on furniture in his previous home, so he hasn’t been able to settle down on the couch or in bed. When it’s time to rest, he seems happiest stretched out on the cool floor next to one of the dog beds. Every hour he’s becoming a little more comfortable, and it’s been so rewarding to watch his personality begin to shine through. He’s relaxing and showing his belly!!

6/27/26-Meet Blitz McFitz Firecracker! This handsome 3-year-old pug (we’re thinking there may be a little Boston Terrier mixed in) arrived in our care today after being surrendered to a local animal shelter stating the owner had no time for him. So far, Blitz has been busy checking out his new surroundings and settling in with the pug pack. We’re happy to report he’s fitting in wonderfully! He even spent some time in the yard playing ball with our 10 year old child and the neighbors 4 year old, and he had an absolute blast. Now… Blitz isn’t quite the gentleman just yet. Lol There’s been plenty of leg lifting as he gets acquainted with his new home, but Monday is a big day—he’ll be neutered, and we’re hopeful that will help him leave some of those bachelor habits behind. For now, he’s decompressing, making new friends, and starting his journey toward finding the perfect forever family. Blitz will be available for adoption after his neuter.
