10/15/2022-Tessa had an active day. It started with a trip to my granddaughters soccer game. She was a hit with all the kids and adults. Two children who did not care for dogs were drawn to her. They gently pet her and walked with her. Her previous shyness with men was not evident. She freely went to my son-in-law and allowed another man to pet her. From soccer we did a quick weigh in at the vets – now 54.2 lbs. On the way home I stopped at a friend’s place to have her meet their cats. She entered the house and simply looked at the cats. One of the cats sat in close proximity and they simply sat looking at each other. There was no aggression or chasing. At my friend’s place she met another man and again there was no sign of shyness. Tessa is eating well and now enjoys bananas and blueberries as well as peanut butter.

Tessa goes all night without needing to go out. When I have to be out of the house for a prolonged time she does have accidents. She would benefit from either a doggy door or someone to let her out during the day. Otherwise she is now house trained.  We don’t know why this sweet girl is still here?!

9/20/22-Tessa is feeling great after almost a week on her antibiotics. I get a wiggle butt welcome in the morning and when I get home. She has laid close on the sofa a few times and even given me a kiss or two. She is doing great in the house when I am home and sleeps through the night. The only time she has accidents is when she doesn’t have someone to let her out. At this point I consider her mostly housebroken.  She has discovered how good treats can be taking them gently when offered. She is the sweetest girl considering the life she had till July 27th. Tessa is ready for her forever home!

9/14/22-Tessa went in to see the vet today for bleeding 1 week after her spay.  We had bloodwork, x-Ray & an ultrasound done to see what was happening. She had vaginitis (infection) & was put on antibiotics. The vet did note a grade 3 heart murmur but was not concerned & no medication needed for her heart.  She was also given an all-dewormer in case any buggies were left from the mill. She should be feeling better soon.

8/30/22-Tessa gets spayed Friday & will be ready to go home!  She loves to be close to her person but not on top of you. Tessa is a good car rider & will look out the window the whole time. She is not crateable though-she will get herself out and hurt herself in the process. She is still shy especially with men. Tessa had a rough life being only a mill momma but now is ready for someone to love her & help her heal.

8/12/22-Tessa is making some progress! She is eating well and getting the hang of going out to do her potty. She is still not accepting crating. She has managed to get herself out of it by chewing the connections and bending the metal. I am now leashing her at night next to my bed. Yesterday I kept her in a separate room while I was at work- no messes. Last night I took her in the car – she rides well just looking out the windows.  We went to Tractor Supply she walked beside me and met other dogs without incident. Today she is hanging out in a lawn chair. Don’t miss out of this sweet girl!

8/9/22-Tessa is doing well but is still adjusting to life in a home & out of the mill. We found she is an escape artist! She can unlatch the gate to the family room in seconds. She definitely needs to be in a fenced yard with a 6 ft fence. House training is very much a work in progress still. She can go outside for a while then come in and have an accident on the floor. Her ears are beginning to clear from the infections. She lets me clean them daily, apply the ear drops and will take her antibiotic wrapped in cheese. Tessa is not food driven so it is difficult to encourage behaviors. I have also tried toys but she does not seem interested yet.

Tessa did great with my 9 year granddaughter over the weekend. She definitely enjoyed being with her and giving her kisses. Tessa is not very vocal at this point but yesterday there were some barks because the neighbor had people working on the house. It was actually the first time I heard her bark.

8/2/22-I met Tessa in Canajoharie/Fort Plain on Sunday 7/31. She walked around checking out the grass for a bit before it was time to head home. She had to be lifted in and out of the car but she rode well once in the car. Upon arriving I showed her the house and potty area and offered food and water.
Right now she is skittish to loud noises, does not willingly go into her crate and is not crazy about being gated in. She has figured out how to get out of the gate, lol. Tessa met my dog – another female. They sniffed each other and then walked away without any problem.
Her coat and skin are in rough shape (she was treated for horrible flea infestation) but will improve as she gets on a better diet and a few baths. Ears are infected but the antibiotic and ear drops will clear that up. Tessa is scheduled for her pre-op appointment for 8/24 to arrange for her spay.
Tessa is a sweet lady who needs time to mend and learn how wonderful it is to be in a house with its noises, activity and most importantly lots of love. I am already getting wiggle butt and numb wiggles.😁 She will meet my 9 year old granddaughter this weekend. I believe she will be a hit.
7/27/22-Tessa (fka:Tesla) came into temporary foster home tonight. She was given up after done with her as breeder at a puppy mill. Her life is better now!
