9/7/26-Taco is settling into his new environment & is starting to venture a bit away from me. He’s sticking pretty close to me. I introduced him to a tie out while I sit on the bench. He did just fine. I think he prefers to be outside. When I take him out to the backyard that’s fenced, he’ll do zoomies for a bit but he’s always looking and barking. Nothing that I can see or hear so we don’t stay out too long for now. Not so much barking when we’re out front.. he did discover squirrels, so hang on to that leash! Lol If I’m at the kitchen table I can guarantee you he’s underneath it against the wall of course. Using a belly band at night. I haven’t crated him except for an hour so when I went to church yesterday. No accidents in house during the day. We’re working on walking on a leash, he tends to zigzag in front of me. I did discover that he likes yogurt, only a tiny bit. 9/5/26-Due to his foster family needing to take a break from fostering Taco was moved today to another foster home. It is also one without other dogs so he could thrive even more. Updates soon from his new foster home.
8/31/26-Taco is beautiful well behaved people loving dog. He has come to work with me at the bowling alley twice now and was so well behaved. Taco listens and has great recall. Loves car rides and was the perfect gentleman at Petsmart. He is listed as a “must be an only dog” as we are not willing to risk Taco being returned once he is adopted if he didn’t get along with another dog in his new home.
8/21/26-Taco has been with me for 7 days now and here is what I have learned about him so far. Taco is a very happy boy, friendly with people and greets them happily at the gate. he plays great with kids even a (dog savvy) 4 year old.
8/20/26-Taco is doing great after his neuter. He greats alone ok with my two dogs and one cat. Taco is learning his place in our pack. He shows some signs of an alpha personality which we are working on. He sleeps in his crate at night until he learns his place on my bed with my 2 dogs.
8/17/26-Taco is being fostered with a 8 year old Yorkshire terrier & 2 year old Silky terrier that he loves. Taco arrived on Saturday with a 2-3 year old stray Lhapsa Apso named Henry(another foster dog). We are not sure if it’s because they are both intact males, but Taco turned into a Tasmanian Devil & constantly attacked only Henry. Once we sent Henry off to his foster home my well behaved guy Taco reappeared. Taco has very long hair & he sat for an hour while I detangled it. He is also great in the tub.
8/15/26-Taco is a beautiful male we think is a Silky terrier (or maybe Yorkshire terrier). Without his new owner doing a DNA test we don’t know for sure. He was a stray to a great shelter we work with & came into rescue today. The shelter estimated him to be about 5 years old but 2 different vets estimated him to be closer to 2 years old. He will be have his pre-neuter appointment next Tuesday & neutered Wednesday 8/19. Once we get to know him better he will be ready for his new home.
