11/25/22-I’m so proud of Ms Jersey. We took her to thanksgiving dinner at a relatives house with about 20 people.  She walked around the house and accepted pets from all people.  Once it got crowded, she was more reserved laying in a corner where her blanket was. She accepted all affection from people ages 2 and up.  She went for a walk with myself and 2 other people and did fairly well. She also ate some turkey and stuffing. Yum! She woke up the next morning and was play fighting with her temporary canine brother.  Then she found her voice today and was barking at a stranger next door.  I’m so proud of this sweet girl and all the improvements she’s made.

11/21/22-So we threw Jersey for a loop and set up a Christmas tree in the house…..and it lights up!  LOL.  She was not impressed but she handled it much better than I expected.  She also woke up this AM and decided she wanted to try to play with the other dogs.  She wanted to be outside exploring and running with the other dogs.  The look of pure joy on her face while running and her wagging tail almost brought tears to my eyes. She was silly and lovey as soon as I got out of bed.  We also took a walk up the street to a busy road to get her used to all things. She was nervous but held up like a trooper.  She also got lots of loving from the crossing guards. So happy with her progress!!

11/13/22-Shy Jersey is starting to open up more each day.  She has periodically joined and cuddled with her canine friends on the dog love seat we have.  Big step for her.  She’s eating well although still timid at times when there’s too much commotion around her bowl. Her dry food is soaked in water to ensure she’s drinking enough.  She’s not nearly as shy as she was about going to the bathroom outside with me.  She greets us all with a wagging tail. She is most outgoing in the am as soon as she wakes up.  She’s gets kinda hyper and jumps on the bed and is almost playing with my 2.5 year old male dog.  Such a joy to see this and witness all her growth.  She is also much better about going into the crate. Slight tug on her collar and she goes right in to her blanketed crate.  Anyone who is willing to give the time and patience to this lovely lady will be rewarded 10 times over with her affection and kindness.

11/12/22-Jersey I would say has very minimal prey drive.  She ran after something this am because my dogs were running.  I don’t think she knew why she was running. Lol She’s the most open and outgoing and confident in the am and that’s when it happened.  She hasn’t had direct interaction with a cat but when Chance is barking at the cat next door or a squirrel, she wants nothing to do with the drama.  Lol.  We have heard many of the puppy mills have a lot of barn cats around for pest control & the dogs are usually fine with cats. We think she should be ok with a cat with normal introductions.  She hasn’t played yet with my dogs either.  She’s comfortable around them, but seems to prefer human attention at this time.
11/6/22-Jersey has been spayed and is currently recovering from that.  Jersey is going to need a patient, kind, gentle and loving new owner.  She is warming up to us and is falling in line with the other canines.   She needs lots of reassurance and space with her activities.  She walks extremely well off leash in my fenced in backyard.  She stays by my side when we go out there. She’s finicky about where she goes to the bathroom and seems to prefer the leaf pile.  She’s a gentle girl at heart.  Although nervous, she enjoys the loves and pets and snuggles she’s getting.  We’re working on slowly switching her from canned food to soggy dry food.   She’s starting to greet me at the door with tail wagging when I get home. Love this!!  Every day this girl is making strides in the right direction. It’s rewarding to see her progress.

10/29/22-Jersey made it the rest of the way to her foster home today thanks to another dedicated team of transport volunteers. She was a great passenger for everyone. She is being spayed on Monday. Updates soon from her foster home as she settles in.

10/26/22-Jersey is a sweet 4 year old female Golden Retriever. She was saved from being killed by a puppy mill just because they were doing breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue tonight thanks to her transport volunteers & temporary foster hoYES
