4/19/21-Beatrice is doing so well! She is such a good natured girl. She is losing some weight and feeling great! She is much more playful and spunky now but she’s definitely a mellow, easy going girl. She LOVES chasing squirrels, nothing gets her moving quite as quickly as seeing one of those pesky critters. She keeps herself occupied by helping herself to one of the many dog toys. Other times you can find her happily rolling around on her back…. she couldn’t do that for her first 7 years when she was forced to live in a cage that likely had a wire bottom.

Beatrice has definitely enjoyed the transition to being the “house” dog she should have always have been! Beatrice is a super easy dog to have around. A new foster came here to stay on Friday and Beatrice has no problems at all welcoming a new dog into the house. She has also
learned to take treats (even high value ones) very gently. It really only took a few days. Bea is very eager to please and learn new things.  All she needs to make her life complete is a special family of her own!

1/16/21-Beatrice is doing great! She’s such an easy dog to have around. She is getting more comfortable each day and even wiggles her nub now. I’ve yet to hear her bark, she’s just a quiet little gal. Her temperament has been amazing, especially considering she was in a mill for 7 long years.

Beatrice gets along with both of my dogs and other foster extremely well. She tries to play with the other dogs but we are still careful because of her stitches. Once they come out next week she will be free to play away. She is also SO good about wearing her cone overnight or when we can’t watch her. She actually leans towards me so I can easily put it on! I’ve never had a dog so accepting of wearing a cone.

Beatrice isn’t much for toys yet but hopefully will figure that out. She does like to explore the yard and check things out. She is also completely housebroken, she had 1 accident within her first few minutes here and that is it. Again, I’m amazed after 7 years in a cage she’s SO good. She does have her moments when she gets scared and goes to her safe place (crate) but those times are getting fewer and fewer.

Beatrice would really dog great in most homes. She is so happy with any bit of love and attention she gets and is a joy to have around.

1/9/21-Beatrice the Beabull (English bulldog/beagle mix) has arrived yesterday after a long few days. Beatrice was a release from a puppy mill. After spending several days at our vet clinic where she was brought up to date and had a lump/cyst removed from her face she then jumped on a transport to Western NY just in time for the Buffalo Bills playoff game!

Beatrice is 7 years old and must have been spay due to complications with her last litter. Since she can’t produce puppies anymore she got her lucky break and came to rescue.

Beatrice is a super sweet girl. She’s a bit shy but not as bad as most mill dogs. I have no doubts she will come around quickly. She really likes
exploring the yard which is great since she needs to shed some weight. Unfortunately living in a cage with no exercise has caused her to be overweight. I got her some weight management food today so hopefully she will feel full while shedding some pounds. I think now that she has her freedom the weight will come off slowly and surely.

Beatrice will have her sutures removed in about 10 days then will be ready for her own special family! More updates coming soon.
