1/6/23-Delia is doing much better & we now think she would be ok with or without another dog. She will need time & patience to teach her to love & trust, plus things like walking on a leash. She’s housebroken & crate trained with only 1 accident when she first arrived. Delia has no prey drive or care about squirrels & birds in the yard so we don’t think she will have any issues with cats either. Delia is all sweet & gentle & we know she will bloom into a great companion with some time to adjust to life outside the puppy mill.
1/2/23-So very many changes for Delia this week, she was struggling in her dogless foster home, despite her foster mom’s best efforts, so it was decided to move her to another foster home with other dogs to see if that would help her engage in life more.
Puppy mill Mama Delia needs a confident, structured atmosphere. She’s a very sweet being that simply has very little confidence in life its self.
However this week alone, she is now eating well,drinking a normal intake of fluids, following my dogs in a structured routine. And better yet learning she can’t hide from life but needs to embrace it and all the good things it has to offer.
She’s gone from needing to be lead from room to room, to now following me and then baby gates restrict her from retreating away from us. This is real progress for her in just 1 week . I only let her have access to her crate when I have to leave my residence. Other wise she has total access to the house, me and my dogs. Something again completely new to her.
I have great expectations for this beautiful girl, so check back soon, as we record her progress into life in the state from puppy mill freedom.
12/26/22-Delia had to move to CT to another foster home as she was just so scared & not adjusting at her other foster home. Trinity did seem to recognize her So we think they may have been together at the mill. More updates & pictures soon from her new foster home.
