1/9/23-Little man Griffin is doing great! You would never know he spent the first 4 years of his life in such miserable conditions. He is confident, outgoing, and a lovebug. Griffin is house trained, but has had to go back into his crate while I am at work. He is NOT good with cats at all and cannot be trusted to be around the more docile ones, like 2 my girls. On the other hand, Griffin is afraid of my male cat who is very self-confident and rules the house. I tried gating Griffin off in my kitchen, but this little agile guy can jump the 38-inch doors. Yes, this little guy is a jumper. The crate will serve two purposes now, protecting my cats and keeping Griffin safe and healthy after his neutering since he is so active. Griffin is such an easy dog. He learned the household routine very quickly. He is very well behaved when meeting other people, too. He loves anyone who shows him love and attention. He does great on walks. He is interested in squirrels and deer, but does not lunge after them. Traffic noise does not bother him unless it is a larger truck or especially noisy vehicle. Funny fact – Griffin does not like his picture taken. Whenever he sees me with my camera he looks away. Interestingly, his foster sister has always done that, too! He enjoys nightly cuddles on the couch and being wherever I am. This little guy, with his white bushy eyebrows and beard, is a very special little guy who will make your heart explode with love and joy.

1/2/23-Griffin is doing really well adjusting to life outside the mill. He has settled in very nicely this last week, knows our routine, and is enjoying life. Griffin is eating and sleeping well. He tested positive lyme disease and is currently on an antibiotic. I put some peanut butter on it and toss it in his food and he takes it without issue. Griffin is not a very active dog. I’ve never had a dog that hides when he sees me getting ready to take him for a walk. Once we are on the walk he is fine. I just think he would rather skip the walk and hang on the couch all day. He continues to walk well on the leash, right by my side. Giffin caught on  very quickly to potty training. He has not had any accidents in the house at all. He’s not a fan of his crate. He somehow manages to pull the blanket that I have covering the crate into his crate and then he chews it. I am now leaving him in the kitchen with access to the crate and bedding and there haven’t been any issues. Griffin does very well when meeting new people. He is not shy or nervous. He is a very confident dog. He calmly greets them and if he really likes them and they are petting him, he will sit right by them. He LOVES getting his head petted. That’s his favorite spot. Griffin responds to his name and comes when called, unless it’s for that dreaded walk. Overall, he is making wonderful progress and he is going to make any family that is lucky to adopt him so very happy.

12/26/22-Griffin, a 4 year old mini labradoodle, received a death row pardon at a puppy mill when SCBR stepped up to bring him into their rescue. He came into rescue late at night on December 21 thanks to a wonderful volunteer who met his transport and held him overnight until I could pick him up the next day. His first night in his foster home was ruff. He repeatedly barked while in his crate on and off throughout the night. The next evening I set up a second crate in my bedroom and he didn’t make a peep. Griffin has been to the groomer and she said he was absolutely wonderful. He did not get nervous or shy away from their washing, cutting, trimming, brushing, and drying. After 4 years in a mill without brushing or bathing, I had him cut short and he looks super cute. He has the most interesting markings and coloring. The pictures do not do it justice. He has one brown eye and his other eye has some light blue mixed in with the brown. Griffin is very nosy and likes to be involved in whatever I am doing. He follows me around and will find a place to sit if I am taking a while in that area of the house. Presently, he is sitting right beside me as I type. Griffin does well on a leash and is very excited on walks. It has been a little too cold these last couple days to walk though and I am hoping it warms up to an acceptable temperature to go explore. Griffin is doing fine with my dog, although I do keep them separated while eating. He is VERY interested in my 3 cats and I am trying to decide if it is an okay interested or let me at ‘em interested. There are times on the couch that he is sitting right near them without an issue and other times he is chasing them and cornering them. No growling or barking involved, just maybe some over-exuberance on his part. When I tell him to stop, he does. Griffin knows his new name already and will come when called. He goes outside and comes back in without issue. He was very well mannered with our dinner guests- no jumping up on them or rushing the door to greet them. My own dog could take mannerism lessons from him. Griffin has not had any accidents in the house since the first time he tried to lift his leg. He’s a very bright boy and will make the perfect companion for so many families.

12/22/22-Griffin is an adorable 4 year old mini labradoodle (miniature poodle/Labrador retriever). He was saved from a puppy mill as they were done breeding him. He arrived safely into rescue yesterday thanks to his transport & overnight volunteers. He’s such a sweet boy. Slept the entire ride to his foster home. Walked him with my dog and now he is in his crate while I am out running errands.  He is being neutered on 1/18 & should be ready to be matched to his new home then. More updates from his foster home soon!
