1/7/23-It’s been two days since Chance’s spay procedure and she’s doing great! Doesn’t love the cone, of course, but she’s taking her post spay medications with food and has been enjoying her walks as well. Chance continues to greet neighborhood pups while wagging her tail, and has been less jumpy and fearful of people walking by as well. Her leash walking has greatly improved!! She’s even learning “wait (with hand up)” and “okay” cues while walking. She’s great in her crate & has not had any more accidents either. Chance is very sweet, friendly, and passive & ready to go home!

1/3/23-Happy New Year! Our former puppy mill mama Chance has been adapting to life in NYC slowly but surely. While she is still very shy and timid, she has shown noticeable improvements walking with a leash and has been sniffing around outside, taking in the city sights and sounds. She is no longer darting and hiding behind us when she hears other people and cars walking by, and has been walking more confidently around the block. She has started to greet other neighborhood pups, even wagging her tail when she met two smaller doodles at our local pet store. She is working on house breaking still which is normal for mill dogs. Praising her a bunch when she goes outside on our morning walk so I’m sure she is on her way to being housebroken soon.
In the apartment, Chance is still very shy and keeps to herself, lying in her crate or in a corner of the living room while watching us go about our business. She has been napping more in the last day, which I hope to be an improvement as she is still very nervous. I had been feeding her treats and wet food by hand as she was not eating very much, and this evening she just started to eat out of a bowl I placed nearby. She is still very quiet, does not show any aggression, but has been fearful to explore the apartment and has not quite warmed up to met yet. Chance does not seem to know what plush toys or chews are either which is sad.
We went to the vet yesterday for her spay pre-op exam, and, while scared she did very well and even ate half a can of wet food. Her bloodwork all came back perfect & her spay is Thursday Jan 5 & she will be ready to go home soon after. Chance is very very sweet — I’m sure she will warm up more in the coming days.

12/30/22-Chance is a very sweet 3 year old female Moyen(medium) Goldendoodle (Moyen poodle/Golden Retriever). She was saved from a puppy mill as they were done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers. Her pre-spay vet appointment is today & she will be spayed on Wednesday 1/4 & ready to go home soon after. More updates from her foster home soon
