1/18/23:  Fluffernutter is doing great and has come so far in a short time!  She’s effortlessly bounding up and down the stairs without any coaxing, and comfortably pads around the house with my dogs.  She’s recovering from her spay and not even fussing with her incision.  Fluffer is a small girl but has a great appetite, especially when I drizzle some fish oil on her kibble. LOL She’s doing really well with leash walking as I’m not having to pull on her leash to get her moving like I did a few days ago.  This girl’s cute personality is really starting to show – when she wants attention she pokes you with her nose!  So….we started working on the “touch” command which is great for teaching recall when off leash.  Fluffer loves her crate and goes in without any issue.  In fact, she likes just hanging out in there with the door open.  I do keep it closed at night and it’s always dry in the morning.  She’s coming along with housebreaking too and my guess is she will be a master in no time!  Who will be her lucky furever??!!

1/15/23:  We got to meet our foster yesterday and boy is she sweet and quite a looker!!  Fluffernutter was saved from a mill along with her 2 sisters.  We were told she was 8 months old but she’s on the smaller side and still quite a puppy so could be closer to 6 months.  There were no issues introducing our 3 dogs.  Though our boy really wants to play, she’s not ready yet or perhaps she doesn’t know how to interact with other dogs outside her littermates.  She’s curiously investigating her temporary digs and likely has never been inside a home before now.  She sniffs the large toy bin but doesn’t know what these are.  After eating and drinking a little inside her crate, she got a much-needed bath – probably another 1st for her!  She didn’t love it but I think she feels much better.  We can now appreciate her beautiful wavy and shiny coat!  Fluffer was exhausted after her long journey so slept well – not even a whimper overnight, and her crate was dry this morning.  She didn’t know what stairs were but after a few tries and cookies, she now gets it!  Leash training is in progress, I’ve tested both a collar and harness and I think she prefers the latter – as a puppy, she’s doing more jumping than walking.  LOL!  Housebreaking is also in progess and I think will go quickly as this girl is sooooo smart – she actually rang the door bells this morning!!  Fluffer will be spayed this week and then ready to go to her furever home!

1/13/23-Fluffernutter is a beautiful 6-8 month old Bernese Mountain Dog. She came into rescue today along with her 2 sisters thanks to her great team of transport & overnight volunteer. They were saved from being killed by a puppy mill just because they got too old to sell.  More updates soon from her foster home.
