1/24/23-Cannoli is doing great! She loves playing with the dogs, she’s eating great, and is LOVING the snow! Cannoli thinks snow is the best thing EVER. I’m starting to learn her signs for having to go potty so we are having fewer accidents inside. Leash walking is going well, and she’s learning being in a crate isn’t too bad. LOL She’s becoming more settled in her crate during the night. Cannoli is fascinated with carrying things around in her mouth (not always good choices haha) so we are practicing lots of “drop it”. She really enjoys being brushed, and sits great for it, even falls asleep during brushing. The kitchen linoleum is super scary but she is getting braver! She loves being loved on, too. I shaved the fur out of her paw pads and near her eyes yesterday while my husband held her and she held still like a champ. Now we can see her sweet face so much better. She’s  my little shadow and even braves the linoleum for me!

1/20/23-I know I don’t need to send another update but Cannoli has really made some strides today! Cannoli is really blossoming! She is walking outside leashed better, approaching my daughter for pets, goes potty every time I bring her out, starting to play with toys, and she’s loving getting brushed. The poodle in her is coming out, too, with some “too smart for her own good” attempts to open the cupboards and the fridge! LOL Our Boxer is still a little too high energy for Cannoli, but some attempts at playing have happened.

We’re going to have to work on her leash walking style so she doesn’t keep smacking me with her paws to play, or I’m going to fall. She isn’t pulling back as much when she feels pressure from the leash and will follow me wherever I go.

Counter surfing might be an issue with her so it’s definitely something her forever home will have to be diligent about during training her. They’ll also need to teach her their preferred “go outside/potty” cue since at this time we’re just taking her out with ours. The linoleum and wood floors are still a challenge for Cannoli (aka floor is lava style lol) but she’s sliding much less.

1/19/23-Cannoli arrived last night with her brother Cyan as an overnight guest. Both were quite dirty and completely unwilling to walk, but we got them home safe. Her brother went on to his own foster home this afternoon.

She looks like a totally different dog now that she has been meticulously combed and bathed! She is not a fan of a leash or walking on the floors but we’re working on it. She’s quite attached to my entryway rug and very curious about our dogs.  She even let my daughter dress her up by the evening! Cannoli is such a sweet girl.

1/18/23–Cannoli is a 17 week old very scared Standard Pyredoodle (Standard Poodle/Great Pyrenees). She & her 2 brothers were saved from being killed by a puppy mill as they just got too old for them to sell. She arrived safely into rescue late tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. More updates soon from her foster home.
