(Since I’m still a baby I need home with someone home more often. Ex: work at home, retired, at home parent, work opposite, etc).

2/17/23-Hamlin is showing his little personality more and more. He’s great with my husband and I, but still very timid around my 17 year old son (who he sees less frequently). He sleeps in his crate at night (in our room) and we’re still working on crating when we are away – a little bit at a time. He chews on the crate. I tried bitter spray and he gets a kong with peanut butter. It’s a work in progress. I’m hoping whoever adopts him is home a lot for him so he isn’t alone.

2/16/23-Hamlin hasn’t had an accident in the house in the last 5 days!  He still goes out frequently so that he doesn’t forget. Hamlin has learned the game of chase and loves running through the yard with our dogs. He even barks now to get their attention.  I think Hamlin would be happiest with another dog in his future home.

2/9/23-Hi, it’s Hamlin… this past week I learned what balls are and I absolutely love them! I love to jump on them and chase them through the house. I decided that I don’t want to be alone so I follow my people everywhere. I now need to be watched when I eat and I want my people to go outside in the yard with me to watch me potty or I just stand by the door and never go. My foster parents are hoping this is just a phase. I really love playing with my foster siblings and I try to play with the kitty cats too but they don’t like to play so much. I have a lot of puppy energy!

2/4/23-Hamlin is doing a great & loves his morning snuggles with our boxer girl on the couch.  He’s doing a good job with potty training & has only had 2 accidents in the last week. His new favorite thing is playing with toys, especially balls! He loves to run and play outside. He still doesn’t love his crate but we are continuing to work on it.  He’s still growing so will probably be about 40-45 lbs full grown. Hamlin is a sweet, handsome boy & will be ready to be matched to his new home in a couple weeks.

1/26/23-Hamlin has his neuter appointment for Tuesday 2/27. He will be ready to be matched to his new home around that time & able to go home after his neuter.

1/25/23-My foster mom says that I’m doing such a great job learning how to be a puppy dog! I’m learning how to potty outside. I go out several times a day with my foster siblings and they are showing me what to do. I don’t love my crate since I now know what freedom is but I’m learning to go in there for short spurts at a time and I have been trying to sleep through the night in there but I do whimper/bark from time to time and need reassurance. My foster mom calls me Velcro because I’m always at her or my foster dad’s side. I absolutely love sitting on the couch next to them getting pets. I’m still scared with sudden movements and nervous with new things so may take a little extra time to warm up to my new family.  Young kids would probably be too much for me right now.  I had my pre-neuter appointment & shots on Monday & did well. My neuter will be scheduled soon & then I’ll be ready to be matched to my new home.

1/22/23-Hamlin is still very scared this morning. He came out of the crate when I opened it. He is wondering my kitchen and living room smelling and observing everything new. He’s slowly warming up to me but runs away if I approach. He’s drinking water and ate a meal last night. He has no idea what to do outside. He sort of just stands there. All new to him as he lived at the puppy mill until yesterday.  He will need to see the vet for his shots & checkup & be neutered before he can be matched to his new home.  More updates soon!

1/21/23-Hamlin is a beautiful 8 month old mini bernedoodle (miniature poodle/bernese mountain dog). He was turned over from a puppy mill as he just got too old to sell. He arrived safely into our rescue tonight thanks his transport volunteers. More updates soon from his foster home.
