2/15/23-Elle May is sporting her shiny new puffer jacket in her fav spot under the dining room table last week. It’s sort of like a self made crate where she feels safe. Continuing to make strides Elle May greeted me at the door briefly for the first time yesterday and I got a quick tail wag this morning! She’s become very familiar with the neighborhood & knows where the other dogs live. Today she noticed that one of the unfriendly dogs wasn’t out in his front yard when we went past. She stopped in front of the house, looked at me, then at the house, & back me again. I gave her the ok and proceeded to stroll over and take a sniff on the lawn.
2/10/22-At 2 years old and 14 days post puppy mill rescue, Elle May is very sweet and gentle, but also very timid because everything is new to her. She’s made wonderful progress in her foster home, but is still shy with her foster mom & daily dog walker.
She peacefully co-exists with our kitty and happily greets other dogs on her walks. She loves her long leash walks but sometimes needs coaxing to leave the house because the outside world is scary to her. Given how timid she is we think she would thrive best in a suburban or rural home with a mentor dog who can show her “how to dog”. An urban area would be too stressful.
Elle May is a smart girl who is making great strides with her house breaking and has excellent house manners so we don’t feel she’ll require crating. Her foster home has an XL crate available but she prefers to sleep outside of her crate.

She had her pre-spay appointment yesterday & it went well. Elle May weighed in at 56lbs & her spay date is 2/23/23. She will be ready to be matched to her new home after her spay!
1/31/23-More baby steps for Ellie May! Today she walked up the steps on her own like a champ. This evening she allowed her foster mom to sit on the floor next to her and then rolled on her side for a belly rub which she thoroughly enjoyed. She has her pre-spay appointment on 2/9 & hopefully will be spayed soon after.
1/29/23-Elle May arrived yesterday to her foster home & is still very scared but taking baby steps. She had her bath, is eating, & walked down the steps to go out this morning but didn’t understand how to get back up! All new to this poor girl that only lived in the mill. She took a long walk this morning & is adjusting to all the changes. She will need to be spayed & then she will be ready to go home. More updates soon.
1/27/23-Ellie May is a beautiful 2 year old female Standard Goldendoodle (Standard poodle/Golden Retriever). She was saved from being killed at a puppy mill as they were just done breeding her. She arrived safely into rescue late tonight thanks to her transport & overnight volunteers.
