4/27/21-Abby has settled in nicely. She’s warmed up to Richard (I let him give her any treats). And she is already SO bonded to me.
This girl can RUN! She loves being in the backyard, even if I am not right there with her. She loves to chase squirrels. She’s gotten used to the traffic noises here (in her previous life she lived on a hundred acre farm), but she hasn’t gotten used to having neighbors right next door.
Abby has decided that her favorite place in the living room is standing on the couch looking out the window–probably looking for those pesky squirrels. She’s starting to learn some basic obedience commands (sit, come, off). She is curious about everything, and to my astonishment she is not afraid of my very loud vacuum! But her curiosity can lead her to find things that she should NOT chew (and like a human toddler she wants to put everything in her mouth) so she gets a marrow bone or a peanut butter frozen Kong to entertain her.
4/23/21-Beautiful Abby has arrived at the Riverview Boxer-Hostel foster home. She is full-grown, but still a baby at only 14 months! Abby was a little hesitant to meet Richard, but a dog treat changed that! I’m delighted to be nearly smothered with Boxer kisses—it’s been a long time that we have been dogless here.
Abby was a good girl and walked around the big backyard twice, and did what she was supposed to do. She spent some time licking and gnawing at a peanut-butter filled Kong, but she also did some gnawing on her new Soccer-ball-on-a-rope. Oops… I thought it was the Kong! She’s konked out at my feet right now, so I’m going to try to sneak downstairs to do some painting. I don’t want her “investigating” any gallons of paint.
4/22/21-Abby is a 14 month old owner surrender coming into rescue tomorrow. The 3 year old boxer in the home decided she wanted to be the only dog now so their owner made tough decision to find homes for Abby & her other dogs. Abby also lived with 2 small mixes & got along great with the other dogs. More updates soon.
