4/24/23-Calla is doing great at her foster home. This girl continues to have an amazing temperament. Calla welcomed two new fosters into the house on Saturday. I was not sure how she would with 14 week old puppies but introductions went without a hitch. To date Calla hasn’t met a dog she doesn’t like. She loves everyone both canine and human.
Calla loves running and playing in the fenced yard. When the weather is nice she finds a sunny spot and sunbathes. She gets the zoomies and loves to chase after a ball. She hasn’t quite learned to bring it back yet but we are halfway there!  Calla is a really funny, goofy girl. She looks so serious in all her pictures and that is NOT Calla. She’s happy, easy going girl. I need to try to get some videos so everyone can see what fun pup she is. I’m honestly a little sad that Calla is being overlooked, I know how awesome she is!

4/4/23-After 3 days in her new home Calla is back with SCBR due to no fault of her own. Sadly the adopters current dog wasn’t a fan of having a canine companion. Calla is very sweet and easy going with other dogs and did not retaliate at all. Her adopter wanted to be sure everyone knows that Calla is a great dog and wanted to make certain her return doesn’t discourage anyone from adopting her.

Calla came back yesterday afternoon.  My thought was to crate my dogs for a bit and let her decompress. Once inside Calla saw her foster brothers and got SO excited! With that everyone went outside. Calla promptly pottied then went on to play and run around the yard with her friends. She came back without missing a beat. It’s really just business as usual. She played, napped, ate dinner then played and napped again. She was super excited when my son and husband came home for work as she usually is. Later at night Calla was ready for bed before I was and she put herself in her crate and was snoozing away.
Calla is very friendly, we are working on not jumping up on people. She’s quite gentle about it and definitely isn’t the knock people over kind of jumper but nonetheless she needs better manners. Besides that and being a bit nosy and putting her paws on the counter she is a really good girl. Calla is very smart so I’m sure everything will fall into place quickly.
Calla is an absolute joy to foster. She loves people and other dogs!

3/31/23-Calla was adopted!

3/28/23-Calla had her stitches out from her eyelid yesterday and she’s good to go home! I absolutely love her! She’s such a sweet dog! She identifies as a boxer as far as following me around and hanging out in the bathroom with me when I blow dry my hair!  She doesn’t have anxiety about it, she just likes to see what’s going on. My son says she has FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out! LOL

3/22/23-Calla is doing great! She is a joy to have here! The first few days her little nubby tail didn’t move a bit. After a few days that little nub started wiggling! She is just a truly happy girl! She is great with her English Bulldog foster brothers. Even though she is great with them she is not dependent on them so she would be fine in a house with another dog or as an only dog. She would love a fenced yard, she is so happy when I open the door. She bounces out the door and frolics for a minute then slows down to wander around and sniff. She found a rubber kong ball in the yard the other day and was having a great time playing all by herself. She would drop it, it would bounce and she would pick it up and repeat the process. It was so cute!
Calla does startle a bit at certain sounds, movements and noises but she recovers quickly. She is coming along well with housebreaking. She does put her paws on the counters, desk etc to check things out so we are working on that. Luckily she’s too short to get anything so there is no reward for her behavior.
Calla really is the perfect little bulldog mix! No excessive snorting, breathing problems or snoring from this girl! Calla has her sutures from her Entropion eye surgery removed Monday 3/27 after that she will be ready for her forever family!

3/18/23-Calla arrived at her foster home yesterday afternoon after being freed from a puppy mill. She was said to be a purebred English Bulldog but we believe she is a mix. Likely a Beabull (beagle/bulldog) or “mini” boxer (boxer/bulldog) as both of these mixes are fairly popular at mills. Unfortunately without doing a doggie DNA test we have no way of knowing for certain. With the health issues that plague bulldogs Calla being a mix is not a bad thing!

Calla is 4 years old and is spay and up to date. She had entropion surgery on her one lower eyelid and needs the sutures out in 10-14 days but is otherwise healthy and ready to go.

Calla is sweet and quiet. She is doing very well settling in so far. She’s exploring the house and yard taking in her new found freedom. She is quiet in her crate and walks pretty well on a leash. She is very quickly learning to trust us and even came over to me earlier for some pets. One of her eyes has the coolest blue spots in it. It makes her even more unique! We will update more as we get to know Calla better.
