8/2/23-I took Trudy out for a walk this morning at 5:30 and she was a perfect angel.  If she started to pull I would stop and have her come sit next to me. I had to do that three times and the rest of the time she walked with slack in the leash. There were no other dogs or people out at that time so I will see how she does when that happens. We have been told by others that have walked Trudy that when she sees other people or dogs on walks she gets overly excited/stimulated & will pull very hard & bark. This can be intimidating to others that don’t know what a sweetheart she is & that she just likes to play rough with other dogs (see video on our Facebook). Her new owner probably should get her a no-pull harness or gentle leader head collar to control Trudy if they are going to be walking her with lots of people/dogs around (At least until she’s a little older/more trained to calm down). One minor quirk she has right now is if you startle her when she is sleeping she will growl, however she comes right out of it & never does anything. For this reason we would not place her with younger kids that don’t understand to not startle a dog.  I have had Trudy for a month & I personally don’t think Trudy has any issues except for being overly excited & needing training. Trudy has an appointment Thursday 8/10 for the updated booster shots she needs & then she is ready to go home!

7/10/23-Trudy is an amazing girl! She is fully housebroken and crate trained.  She has learned to use the dog door.  I decided to see how she would do if given full access to the house.  I popped the lid to the treat jar and she ran to her crate and waited for the treat.  I gave her the treat, but didn’t shut the crate door.  When I got home a couple hours later, she was still laying in her crate with the door wide open.  Since that day, I no longer crate her and she is a perfect angel. When I come home now, she is usually snoozing on the couch.   Trudy will make an excellent addition to any family! Don’t miss out on this awesome girl!

6/23/23-Trudy is absolutely amazing!! She has great manners and is very disciplined and always follows commands.  She is a typical young boxer that loves to play and enjoys the company of her foster fur brother. She is also a master cuddler.  She makes the sweetest little noise if you stop petting her just to make sure you know that she is still there. When I come home from work she greets me with the usual boxer wiggle, but she also does this cute little smile.  Some people aren’t convinced that dogs actually smile, but Trudy will prove it to you. Trudy will make a perfect addition to any family!

6/14/23-I picked up Trudy on 6/11 as her foster family was leaving on an extended vacation. Trudy is very sweet and very well disciplined.  She loves to cuddle on the couch and have belly rubs when she is done playing.
Trudy is a champ in the crate and goes in with no problem and remains very calm.
She sleeps all night without a peep.
She is a fabulous guard dog as her bark sounds very fierce, but she is just a big mush as soon as you let her know that the person is ok and she gets to sniff them. I was told that a slow introduction to my dog was needed, because she gets overly excited.  The introduction went great with about 10 minutes on opposite sides of the fence.  She was very vocal and did jump at my male boxer but immediately calmed down upon my verbal commands.  We then took them both for a walk together and they did fine.  The first night there were a couple of snips by Trudy to the resident dog, but again immediately stopped upon my command.  Now they are already best buddies and love to play and wrestle.  She is very strong and likes to play hard and loves all the toys.  My dog is quite a bit larger and he loves the rough play.

6/1/23-Trudy has recovered well from her spay. Her cone came off today and I could tell she was happy about that.  No more running into the doorways..lol.  She know how to sit and stay now. She still loves all the attention and tummy rubs she can get. She is ready for her forever home. Someone needs to snatch this sweet girl up!

5/24/23-Trudy had her spay today. She did well and is resting quietly now. The vet tech commented again on how sweet she is! I think she will be ok with other dogs her size and slow introductions as when she meets dogs she gets overly excited.  For this reason no little dogs or cats. This cutie is ready to be adopted!

5/12/23-Trudy has had some issues this week with what turned to only be “boxer belly” or as I say “boo boo belly”.   She has started to improve with meds from the vet. Unfortunately,  her spay was pushed out to Wed May 24th. The vet just wants to make sure she is fully better before doing surgery. The vet techs loved her and kept saying what a sweet dog she is.  She had a bath last week and even though she didn’t love it, she tolerated it. I found out she loves to be brushed. Sitting down, laying on either side and laying on her back. ..lol. She still enjoys playing with her toys and then she likes a cuddle. If you stop petting her, she nudges your hand for more pets. This super sweet gal will be ready for adoption soon so get your applications in!!

5/10/23-Poor Trudy, for a few days she was vomiting bile and diarrhea. We put her on pepcid and a rice diet. I thought she was getting better but she started to refuse to eat again. Also could tell she was losing weight and her energy was getting low. I took her to the vet this morning & they did bloodwork & vet says all looks ok. They gave her an injection of antibiotics to see if they can get her to eat now. She still has an ear infection also. She will be on pill form of meds and more ear drops. Her spay might be pushed out a week if she isn’t doing better by Friday.

4/27/23-Trudy continues to be full of boxer energy. That’s common for boxers her age as she is only 1 1/2 yrs old. She continues to love her long walks. She is 52 lbs of muscle. When she sees a bird on the walk, she pulls and tries to get it. She is working on “leave it”. She likes Frisbee tosses, and ropes or even sticks. She has some speed and she can play rough. She is also working “no jumping”. Again, common for her young age. She would definitely benefit from obedience training.  My dog doesn’t want to interact with her so I don’t have any history with other dogs. She might be better with dogs her own size she could play with. But she loves people so she would be fine as an only dog as she would love all attention for herself. Her crooked tail is cute and she still wags it like a nub. I think the tail makes her unique. We are still waiting on her spay but she will be ready to go after that. Don’t miss out on this gem!

4/19/23-Trudy went to the vet today for her vaccinations & check up. She was very good in the office. They gave her some whipped cream to distract her as they gave her the shots. She is food motivated so she never even noticed. LOL  She has a yeast infection in her left ear that she got drops for.  Trudy continues to be an excellent rider in the car. She just chills in the back seat. She is great on the leash and loves her walks. She would be a great walking or running partner for someone. She is also great in the crate. She knows when she goes in there, she gets a treat. She never makes a sound in there. I would say she is housetrained because she hasn’t had any accidents in the house but I also take her out on a schedule. Trudy is a still a young dog and it’s fun to see her zip around the yard at high speed. She continues to love her toys & also loves getting attention from people.  She loves a good scratch and will even lay on her back for a stomach rub. She has very pretty brown eyes that look at you with love!! Due to vet backups her spay is not until Monday May 15th, so get your applications in for this sweet girl!!!

4/14/23-Trudy has been on several walks and is leashed trained.  She knows her commands for sit and stay. She is very food motivated which might be from being on her own as a stray.  She likes toys and to play fetch. She does a boxer prance when she is happy and leans on you to get petted and scratched. Her first vet visit is next week and will set up her spay appointment.  She will be ready for adoption after that. Super sweet dog!!

4/12/23-Trudy is very sweet about 18 month old boxer that came into rescue today. She was a stray picked up by a local animal control officer(ACO) & sadly no one came for her. The ACO said she is very friendly, sweet & submissive. She loves to play tug-o-war with rope toys & enjoys her big rawhides too! She also smiles a lot as she’s just a very happy girl. Also said she just wants to be with you & was good with other dogs next to her in the kennels at the shelter.

Trudy was super on the car ride home. Jumped right in the backseat and sat the whole way home. I took her for a 2 mile walk. She was pulling a lot until she got some of her energy out. She was doing very good on the way back when she was tired out. She responded to “no” commands as she started to get ahead of me and the leash was slack most of the way back.  She has an interesting undocked long crooked tail. Looks like this poor girl might have broken it at some point. She loves her people. She does play tug-a-war with the toys and rope. She is on the small side and seems very sweet. We are working on getting her to the vet for a checkup & shots & be spayed. Once Trudy is spayed she will be ready to go home!
