5/8/23-It was another milestone weekend for Molly, as she learned how to use the dog door! Way to go Molly! She has also has begun the “Boxer Wiggle” which is so exciting for me to see now.  She still isn’t ready to rough house with her fur brother, but she does stay near him and follow his lead.  She has also found her voice.  No burglar is going to break into her house. LOL. She is still shy when it comes to new people. But if you give her time and let her come to you at her own pace, she always comes. She is definitely a low key dog and is content to relax in her bed.

4/27/23-It was a very exciting day yesterday. Molly went out for a walk on the leash and did FANTASTIC!  It took some coaxing to get her out, but with the encouragement of her fur brother she faced the unknown.  I am so proud of her. I have also discovered that she is a hoarder.  Anytime I leave the room, she grabs anything she can get and puts it in her bed with her.  Last night it was my cell phone and the tv remote.  She doesn’t chew them, just hoards them.  Maybe it reminds her of of app the puppies she probably had? Molly is ready for her new home!
4/26/23-Molly’s spay yesterday went good. She isn’t eating much right now but she was happy to be home. She is good with with my boxer boy Bodie. She doesn’t play much but is fine with all the dogs that come over.  She definitely needs a low key home with someone just to be patient with her as she learns what life outside the mill is like.

4/24/23-Molly is doing much better.  I actually got a small butt wiggle the other day! She is starting to explore a bit more and she climbed up and down the stairs to find out where we were. She is now going outside all by herself and I no longer have to carry her out.  She still wants to come in right away and get back in her bed unless I stay outside with her. She was reintroduced to the female bloodhound that she originally growled at and it went smoothly. I’m sure it was just stress last week of all the changes. She no longer cowers if you pet her and she is actually coming to us for attention. Of course, we are spoiling her, but she deserves it. Her spay is tomorrow & she will be ready to go home soon after!

4/19/23-Poor Molly, I can barely get her to eat. I finally had to give her canned chicken after three days of not eating. She won’t eat from a bowl but she will off a paper plate. I don’t think she can chew the dry food well.  The initial vet check say she has stage 2 dental disease. I bought her some soft food today and will keep giving her chicken if that is all she wants to eat. She is feeling a little safer and actually barked today. Baby steps.

4/17/23-Molly is a beautiful fawn girl. At this point I haven’t got to know her personality because she is absolutely terrified, but she is very gentle. She came to me on 4/15 and for the first 5 hours she was afraid to sit down.  After that she did finally sit down, but was too unsure to lay down until her exhaustion took over.  I made her a bed on the floor in the corner of the furniture where she finally felt safe and fell into a deep sleep and actually started snoring.  She is still afraid to leave her bed, but I think it is more that she is afraid to lose her comfy spot.  I haven’t been able to coax her to go outside to potty, so I have to pick her up to take her out, but then she does her business and wants to get back to her bed.
This morning I sat with her on the floor and actually got a kiss on my hand.  This is heartbreaking for me as a foster to experience her fear, but it also melts my heart to see the fear begin to diminish as she begins to feel safe and know that she will be loved and cared for as long as she needs me. She has met many people and other dogs (mostly males) over the weekend and did good with all, except for the one female bloodhound which she growled at.  She wasn’t aggressive with her just a low growl to let her know she was on edge. So I am not sure if it has something to do with it being another female.  I will let them meet again, once Molly has more time to settle in.

4/14/23-Molly is a sweet 5 year old female boxer saved from being killed by a puppy mill as she just got too old to breed. She arrived safely into rescue thanks to her transport & hold volunteers. She will be spayed Tuesday 4/25 & once that is done she will be ready to go home! Updates soon from her foster home.
