4/27/23-Reuben would love to get out and stretch those puppy legs of his, but his is confined to the leash or the crate, for now since he just got back from his neuter. They had a hard time trying to sedate him for his neuter as he is so happy to have hands on him that he kept wiggling!  Everyone at the vets thought he was such a nice dog, and I was asked a couple of times if a home had been found for him yet.  His two main faults are rushing up to all other dogs thinking they are there to play with him & his hard pulling on the leash.  Obedience training and a martingale type collar will go a long way towards aiding his development. Reuben is ready for his new home!

4/26/23-Reuben loves to have hands on his body!  He loves getting attention, but the little boy wiggles so much. I was finally able to get him to stand still long enough that I could get his collar off, and re-adjusted.  It is now about an inch larger, and I may loosen it a bit more.
He has learned the dog door both coming and going.  He is finding it fun, but still likes to have a human near by.  All in all, he is really pretty well behaved, but does put up a fuss even if I just go out to the road to collect the mail.  By the time I came back, less than 5 minutes, he was quiet though.

4/25/23-Reuben is learning to use the dog door.  He is good at coming in, but will soon learn to go out through.  He is a little smartie!

4/25/23-This baby really needs obedience and someone that can handle a leash puller.  Reuben is not at all good on leash, and a fenced yard would be great bonus if have one for him for exercise.  He thinks every dog in sight is there to play with him! LOL He is eating well and loves his food and treats.

4/24/23-Reuben had his pre-neuter vet visit today & he actually weighs 55 lbs. The vet says he will probably be up around 75 lbs when fully grown and filled out.  He still has his dew-claws, which I think is wonderful.  He had a heartworm/Lyme test today and is negative.

Reuben does not walk well on leash.  He really needs work/obedience training, especially in meeting other dogs.  He is a “rusher”, he is so anxious to play.  He doesn’t like going outside alone or even with the other dogs yet….likes to have a human present too.  We were told he was put outside alone often in his last home so I think he just wants to be sure he’s not going to be left out. His neuter has been moved up after I asked if they could get him in sooner if there was a cancellation.  He goes in this week, Thursday April 27th & he will be ready to go home soon after!

4/22/23-Reuben has arrived to his foster home thanks to his transport volunteer. He is very thin, very hyper, and with his world being turned upside-down, it is to be expected.  He had time to explore the dog yard before coming in the house, met my pack of 3 dogs through the crates, and has since met both of my boxer boys one at a time, but not my beagle girl yet.  After Reuben met the boys individually I crated him and after a couple of hours, decided it was time! I closed the main house off, and turned everyone loose outside for them to play or whatever. Phoebe my beagle wasn’t having any of his advances and declined to go off the deck.  LOL Peter my boxer isn’t too interested in too much play, this time. Reuben and Guy my other boxer can match “step for step” and Guy is a gazelle.  Lots of energy let out by both  Reuben is now resting quietly in his crate, and everyone seems to be quiet. The cats are in for a surprise with a new foster! We are slowly getting acquainted, and will have more to share soon. His pre-neuter appointment is on 4/24 & due to vet backups his neuter is not until Tuesday 5/9.  Once he is neutered he will be ready to go home.

4/21/23-Reuben is a handsome 16 month old male boxer owner surrender coming into rescue tomorrow. His owners loved him & said he was great with their 6 kids from age 3-11, except for around his food bowl. Reuben didn’t care if the kids had food in their hands walking around but if one of the young kids got too close to his food dish while he was eating he would snap, but he never bit.  They were just worried that something could happen & didn’t want him labeled as a bad dog.  He also lived with another dog & cats & good with all.  They said he is a loveable, goofy amazing boy & they just want a great life for him.
