12/14/24-Ollie is a very well behaved boy and has been a joy to foster. He is very calm in the house and loves to run around the backyard and also enjoys walks. He can get a little anxious and pull a bit when he sees other dogs when walking, but this behavior is easily corrected with verbal commands and has not been an issue. He gets along well with the resident dogs and cat. He can be a little shy when new people come over, but warms up after a bit. He enjoys pets, belly rubs, toys, and just relaxing on the chair. He is a sweet boy who is ready to be adopted & looking forward to sharing his love with his new family!
12/9/24-This boy needs to have a quick adoption because I am falling in love! He is such a good and sweet boy! He potties outside, is crate trained, and knows commands. For his bath he was the best ever! Stood like a statue. He’s a big love bug and is going to make some family very happy.
12/08/24-Ollie, an almost 2 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, has arrived to his foster home! He loves the snow. Not only is he cute, but he is so sweet too! I just love him! More updates as we evaluate him & his needs further.
12/7/24-Unfortunately after 19 months in his new home Oliver (now Ollie) is being surrendered to rescue tomorrow to find another home. (See his original page for his adorable baby pictures:
https://secondchanceboxer.com/?page_id=9780). His owner felt Ollie requires more than she could offer him. He has developed some anxiety that has increased in the past months and he has exhibited leash & fence reactivity which may be as a result of guarding his mama. There was a new puppy introduced in the home a few months ago & Ollie spends a lot of time alone because of his owner’s work and she has medical issues which limits mobility. She said he runs around in the backyard a lot but she may only walk him once a week. He does go to doggy daycare once a week and is very good & submissive there. This terrier breed does do best when they are exercised regularly, so not getting enough stimuli & exercise may be a lot of the issue too. She also says he is a barker – they have tried vibration collars which have not helped. For this reason Ollie would not do well in a condo/apartment type of home. His owner said he is housebroken, smart, and obedient. She also said he’s fantastic when he’s running an open spaces and she would even trust him around young children. He is physically healthy and weighs 40 lbs.
Here are some comments about Ollie from his owner: “I have taken Ollie camping and to open land and both times he loves open land, and I don’t have to leash him. He comes when called. He is sweet, lovable and affectionate.
He also attends doggie day care and they love him. He gets groomed at least 3-4 times a year, and is brushed several times a week and bathed monthly. He also cannot eat poultry as he has a skin sensitivity.”
We also spoke with the doggy daycare where Ollie goes one day a week to get an outside opinion on Ollie & his needs. They said he has never been on the naughty list for anything and has been going there for over a year. Immediately after check in, He is let into a common area with dogs his size-all are off-leash the entire time and he plays appropriately. No bites, barks, nips, growls or hackles, even when an alpha gets in his face. He does not cower in a corner either. Staff are in the room continuously. They are aware of his home behaviors and believe he has resource guarding of his owner and leash/fence reactivity but this has never been witnessed at the facility.
