11/6/24-Anyone would be so lucky to have this little chickadee. She is such a stable, relaxed. and easy-going boxer. All she needs is some love and a little extra patience to slowly erase those five years as a breeder dog. I’m getting good morning wiggles every morning now, I’m seeing Zoomies and  playfulness in the backyard with the other two dogs, she is starting to joust with her paws and using her butt to hip check while playing. LOL She is a wonderful, wonderful boxer!

10/19/24-Miss Daisy is the poster child when you think of a sweet female boxer. She is so gentle, politely inquisitive and has excellent manners (no jumping on people, furniture or kitchen counters). In my opinion, she would survive is an only dog and would be a very good only dog… But she would also thrive if she had a partner to be with and snuggle with and be the leader of her little pack. She gets along equally well with both my male and female boxer. There is no tension there, in fact, I think she would get along with any other dog, she is so even tempered!  There is absolutely no separation anxiety when I leave and she’s in the crate. The house breaking routine has been achieved with high honors.  She walks very well on a leash, but we have done no obedience training as far as heel and stay or anything like that but walks right into the vet on the leash, hops right into the car being on the leash and settles right down in the car. She has discovered what being loved on is all about… and is mesmerized when you can hold her head in one hand and rub her forehead and her ears and her neck… She stands so still while being petted and sweetly talk to and then just leans in for the snuggle. She would do very well with kids but is a little shy when she first meet someone new. She is the kind of dog where you let her approach you for the first time.  Now, all I  have to do is make eye contact with her, open and close my  hands like you’re encouraging her to come to you and she just comes over and gets loved on. What I like the best is she still discovering things. Different noises in the neighborhood make her come to alert and attention. She is becoming comfortable enough to seek out space on the other half of a dog bed and snuggle up with my dogs Bo or Diva.  She is also discovering the concept of boxer play by taking her paw and jousting with the other two dogs. It was so funny to watch her watch the other two dogs doing their zoomies through the backyard.  She had no idea what was going on but after about a week she got involved and she thought it was so cool to just  run like a mad woman acting like a real boxer. As a foster home, it is so amazing and very rewarding to watch these little mile marks happen and her slowly leave the puppy mill state of mind.  Her laid-back personality, gentleness and sweet disposition would make an outstanding addition to any family.

Daisy Mae is still waiting for her new home to scoop her up!

9/26/24-Daisy is a very, very attractive looking & sweet boxer.  Post surgery she had a bout of diarrhea and she’s not exactly eating as well as she was before even though I’m even hyping it up with a little bit of peanut butter. It is only 3 days post surgery though & it’s a big recovery for these ex-breeder mommas. I took a fecal in & at least she doesn’t have any worms. We are sure she will be feeling & doing better in a few more days.

9/24/24-Daisy had her surgery yesterday & it went well. Vet said that she appeared to have had a lot of litters & she lost a little bit more blood than usual but she’s OK. Vet also did an extra thorough check & still said she hears no heart murmur, which is great news.  Daisy is doing all right today & is now ready to go home!

9/19/24-Daisy had her pre-spay appointment this week.  The vet went over the couple of possible medical concerns the vet noted during the quick health check from when she first arrived from the breeder.  The recheck said the possible “hole” noted in her gum was just an indentation in her gum, but there is no inflammation or pus pocket or anything there. Original info stated a possible heart murmur but the vet this week even went and got her cardiac stethoscope and listened for a good minute and she said she could not perceive any heart murmur at all, so likely just stress at the original vet quick health check when she arrived. There are 2 little growths on her feet that our vet is going to remove when she is doing Daisy’s spay just to be safe. Also there was note of possible old ACL tear on her right rear leg. Our vet noted that looked more like maybe Daisy had an injury along time ago and has since healed but there is nothing really affecting her now. She did say like with any old injury there is a chance Daisy would get arthritis on that leg. Would be a good idea to start her on a glucosamine supplement in the future if she starts showing signs of issues in that leg.  Sweet Daisy is cleared for her surgery on Monday 9/23 & will be ready to go home a few days later!

9/17/24-Daisy is a beautiful boxer with a great personality! It took a couple of days but she is playing with my other two boxers. She didn‘t want to drink (lots of ex breeder dogs don’t) but I have been giving her food with lots of chicken broth that she’s been sucking up. She has her pre-spay check up today so more updates in a couple of days.

9/14/24-Daisy Mae has got a great personality, but she is still reacting to every noise & learning the sounds of being in a home.  She has an ear infection she is being treated for.  She’s a very beautiful girl.

09/13/24-Daisy Mae is a 5yr old female boxer that came in today from a commercial breeder as they just didn’t need her anymore. She arrived tonight thanks to her transport volunteers. Right now she is very scared & unsure of being in the house. I turned the ceiling fan on and she’s jumped out of her skin. Poor girl! She’s OK though and my other 2 boxers & Daisy are getting along so far.  Her pre-spay appointment is on Tuesday 9/17 & she will be spayed on Monday 9/23. After that will be good to go to her forever home.
